I know exactly how you feel, it was always incredible and as I have already said, I haven't seen Shortall but I saw the rest and they were nothing special. Shortall must be incredible.
His old center Kiros Arapoglou has been sold a couple of times for $500,000 each time. His other SF Juan Luis Guerforat that used to rip me apart has most recently been sold for $300,000 not a sign of a uniquely amazing player, his PF has been sold for $600,000 twice and his PG Mohammed Tarchouni was quite good but even he only sold for $800,000.
Ah, Beechy, I will never know how you did it, but you were almost unbeatable.

Totally agree about Beechy whom HA followed up from III.4 into II.3.
With a $769K roster than I had a couple of seasons ago, I still feared Beechy who had a roster closer to a third of this price, because of all the lessons he'd given my team over the previous 7 seasons.
Folklore had it that he used to hack into the game engine to conjure up some of the against the odds wins that he used to get on a weekly basis
A legend of the game.
May his stay in div 3 be only brief and I sincerely hope that he bounces back right up through the grades to the ABBL

Being 3 times in a row as a bridesmaid can be painful and I feel for Beechy. I'm confident he will bounce back up into another division 2 and could well and truly promote from there since other teams may underestimate his managerial ability.

My old foe and nemisis has been off the system for 2 and a half weeks.
Someone knock on his door, the game would be poorer if a character like Beechy went bot

So with one game to go we have the playoff spots decided with the exception of the dual between Lordy and All Sorts. With games against Hags and Vios it could go down to the wire. My money is on Vic Mages to take it out and head to the ABBL. They were my dark horse last season but now they are very much in the mix. The Gulls have made a purchase but I am not sure it was significant enough. I can't see Aussie or Haggards taking it out. I could be wrong. Should be a great playoff series. Mages remind of Beechy so much it is scary.
As for the Mad Men. Mission accomplished. Finished 5th or higher and increased the stadium. Put games into the development players. Saved some coin. 2-3 seasons away from changing the goal.

What about me? :-P
I do have to agree that Vics are the most likely candidate to take it out. I think Aussie might be the Great 8 final series contender this season but I wouldn't throw my life savings on it.
Didn't realise the battle for 4th was so close. Funny thing is both Lordy and All-Sorts would probably prefer to finish 5th, considering the economic benefit of this position. Not really worth sneaking in to finals just to earn 1/3 of the profits, while paying a full week's salary and bowing out. I can see both teams looking to tank, to see who can take that 5th spot. BB devs should really do something to fix that, the reward just isn't there to finish 3rd or 4th, if you're chances aren't great of progressing after round 1 of playoffs. If I lose 1st round, i'm looking at a $200k loss most probably. Not much of a reward for achieving a place in the playoffs...
I'm also pretty happy with my season. I intended to improve on last season's 5th place finish and really wanted to make 4th at least and 3rd wasn't out of the question (at the start of season). I feel my lads aren't quite developed enough to take it this season (though I'll give my rival El Hag a good run). I will again set my sights higher for the next season and hopefully the ABBL relegates are not to unkind.

oh agreed, ill definitely be staying here in 5th. I see no reason to make 4th. Unless there was a big buy up.

I agree... there should be no benefit to finishing in a lower position except to get a higher draft pick.
i play an ice hockey sim, which at the end of the season each team gets a bonus depending on where they finish. that could be a way to promote 4th over 5th.
or even just finishing in the PO's having a bigger impact on your season ticket holders for the next season, thus there is an incentive to get that position and reap the rewards next season in attendance.
i know if the bulldogs finish in the finals in AFL they are more likely to get more members than they will this season after finishing like 12th.
idk just some ideas that came to mind when vio mentioned the issues

I mean it does have an effect now (albeit not a large one) Last Seasons performance count towards your fan survey ball count which then in turn influences ticket sales. It would be nice if that had a noticeable effect, even a measurable one so more value could be placed on 4th. I still think I'd still rather keep the salary payments.

indeed it does already have an effect. but it doesnt seem big enough as you say. However if the effect is greater as you highlighted, and then possibly combined with a 100-150k bonus for team making a PO appearance in d2. Say 75-100k for d3. 50-75k for d4. and so on
surely it would be more appealing to finish 4th than 5th that way? i always take 4th over 5th because i prefer to win, and every win keeps the fans happy
