Fairly certain offense/defense is Base Offense - Man to Man.

Also pretty certain if you have a guy who shoots 4-5 from 3 pt range his jump range isnt going to be pituful.

A guy who shoots 13-15 from the line is probably physical and is not atrocious from the foul line...

-.-

and in many cases you would be wrong, and when i said you dont know what the def is , i meant you dont know what level of def your up agaisnt a awful outside shooter could hit 4-5 3pt if his defender had pitiful outside def, granted it would not happen often, but it could happen in one game and that is exactly what this is one game.

everyone that knows what there doing in this game understands this and knows that the box score is the last thing you look at and has little to no bearing on your choice in the draft.

the only real time it would come into efect and then still its very unreliable is when you have 2 identical players within your draft info.

OH and you one ball me for a post trying to help shaq understand that he again is using the wrong info, yes it came across very direct but over time ive learnt you have to be direct with shaq or he doesnt learn.

i wasnt being a smart arse for starters, just didnt want you confusing new players again with your talk of the box scores and you do know you just gave an example that supported what i said and not what you said right?

box score means nothing/ pot,age and grade rating mean everything.

I picked based off of box score last season and it worked out just fine...but I would only recommend doing it if you are picking between players who you don't know the potential and age of.

So...I had no 5 star players with 4 or 5 potential last season that were 18 yo. Instead, I picked the PG with 5 star rating and a ridiculous stat line. (37 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, 4 steals, 17-20 shooting, 2-5 3pt). I got a very solid PG, who was unfortunately 19 years old.

I think it is safe to assume that incredible stat lines come from good players as my player reflected his stat line very closely in his skills (respectable JS, mediocre JR, respectable PA, average PD). However, this is an isolated example, and I would always choose a 5 star, 4 potential, 18 yo with a crappy stat line over a 5 star, ? rating, ? age guy with a ridiculous stat line.

my worse drafted player this season had a great stat line (30 pts,8 rebounds,2 assists,2 steals, 4-4 3 pts, 17-21 shots)

his highest skill was average on shot blocking , he had awful inside shot, inept jumpshot, pitiful jumprange and he was 19.

once again, and ive read other theads that say this also the box store means almost nothing as you do not know the level of def.

but by all means ignore me and draft via box scores, especially if your in my league.

I would go alittle farther and say that stat lines mean NOTHING at all. For one we all have completely different lines and second as has been mention you have no idea what type of opponent they are against.

I drafted a player last season who was a inside palyer he had (6-9 FG, 3-3 3pts). It turns out he was awful/ awful in JS/JR, he did have average IS but it does not add up. This is only one of many examples of how little importance the stat line should have on selecting players.
