I dont post often but it’s nice to see some teams in the league sharing the same frustrations that I currently have. Just my 2 cents on a couple topics.
1. The Transfer List is ridiculous right now due to supply and demand. The supply of quality players that can impact a 2 league roster is low which is driving the price way up on all these players that are not about to deteriorate in skill level due to age. This leaves older higher skilled players available and even some of those are outrageously priced. Lets use my player Runkun who is currently listed on the TL. Sure he is a good player but if I were looking to sell him and replace him with similar quality (age and skill points) the price I have listed him at is what I would need to sell him at to replace him with a competitive 2 league PF.
BB is trying to use a Market approach while allowing sellers to dictate value of their players. This helps create more value for sellers due to buyers having little power which is evident by the current TL prices. If you want a quality player you are paying the sellers price. In order to limit the power of the seller, I think BB should use a true market approach and if you want to sell the player have minimum starting bids for like players. In order to do this successfully, BB would need to have a more realistic player comparison tool that evaluates the market for like skilled players on various skill sets and age and defines the minimum value for like players. If an owner decides to list him at that minimum price, then let the competition and bidding for the player begin. This approach would ensure that the seller at least would get minimum value and managers would think twice about throwing players up on the transfer list for ridiculous prices virtually risk free.
I also believe the TL is hurting by the commissions increasing for buys and sells. As a new team coming to the 2 league, my players may not be the quality I need. However, if I sell off players, then I am penalized for future sells (by higher commission) which can prevent people from listing players altogether or causing them to pass the commission on the buyers resulting in higher prices.
2. I completely agree with the draft being a waste of time. I haven’t scouted any draftee’s since the 4 league and I will not waste money scouting them. 1. there are few too quality draftees 2. the starting skill points of draftees will not make a difference at a 2 league level and 3. I agree that the starting skill points and training is so slow that each draftee is at least 3-4 season of training before allowing the draftee to be an impact player. Training draftees used to be my favorite part of the game in the lower leagues but I don’t think twice about it anymore and cut them or sell them right away. (Increasing the garbage players on the TL)
3. Home Court Advantage - HCA seems to be very powerful and unrealistic in this game. Sure, I haven’t been around long enough to know the ins and outs of the game engine and there are more tenured/knowledgable managers than me, but HCA seems to add 10-20 points across the board for each team whether they are a first place team or a last place team sometimes causing the better teams to lose games. (I understand upsets happen) In my opinion this is unrealistic. Take the Cavs and Hawks series for example, the Cavs didn’t give the Hawks 10-20 pts magically when they played in ATL. And using a Football example, the Texans home field advantage is not the same as Seattle’s. I feel BB should use the PR Manager feature to control the HCA. If teams want to spend more for a higher PR Manager then they should get a higher HCA. However, there should be tiers based on levels and if you have a last place team you should have the lower end of the tier for that level.
These are just a couple frustrations I am experiencing and its good to see I am not alone. Just wanted to share some of my thoughts since everyone was posting similar issues.
