It seems this change will make WOs more frequent (in b3), but its not the root cause of why there are WOs. So how would we globally stop WOs?

BB's can stop it by automatic random lineup if there are less than 3 players set for lineup by manager. Only WOs then would be if there are less than 3 not injuried players on roster at all.
With this rule every manager would be worry about not setting lineup.

There is just too many rule changes to appease the one tiny problem of day trading monsters that can be solved in a much simpler manner.

For example, the B3 are arcade-mode games (like the private league), and is designed to encourage teams to try their best to win (it doesn't compete for playing time / game shape with other games, for example).

That is a valid point. But I still think there is some encouragement to win cup games and especially some key cup milestones (ie: to get a cup game during allstar week and to win the final, for example).

But with that said, surely the single biggest difference is that there typically around 150 teams in the B3, while the Cup formats must be able to work in countries with over 5000. That alone makes this sort of format unworkable.

Maybe I am missing something as I have not thought about it enough. But is this not just a scaling issue? If there are more teams you just play with the number of round robin games. And/or you play with the number of teams that advance from the round robin. I think there might be an issue with a very small number of teams but in that case you could just stick to the current format.

If, as someone said before, the key reason to make this change was to stop people from buying monster players for zero dollars, the same issue exists in the cup. Perhaps it happens less and is not as visible to the community at whole. But I have seen it happen.

But again, I may not have the full grasp of the reasons behind this format change.

It's happen often in the final of the national cup....the solution?Trade deadline also for the cup!

My idea was for any matches, not only B3 matches.

I was in a fed not too long ago and moaned about the walkover that was set against me on purpose. This led to one of the BBs asking for suggestions on how to fix walkovers. This idea was mentioned and I very much support it.

I also suggested making a minimum roster of 3 players (you can't fire or transfer down past the limit). That way, the only possible way to have a walkover is if a team has injured players.

How about automatic listing all roster for 0 due to bancrupcy rule? In this case team can have less than 3 players.

Well, extreme cases like that could stay - with the stipulation that no players could be sold again until the team met the roster minimum.

One question about new B3 format. Are you ready for situation with odd number of participant in new season?
My suggestion for this situation is calling best team in world rank which is not qualified for the season by any present rule (league winners, cup winners and all B3 winners).
