Well that's because the Laker's PGs are a**. Anyway that's a discussion for a different thread
In the NBA the definition of PG is very lose.
As a fact, Kobe is the one who's in charge on the offensive-flow.
For that, 5.6 AST is not much.
Kobe 23 shot attempts per game, only player in NBA with over 20+
he had 4.6 assists, not 5.6
and players who shoot a lot, such as James, 6.2 assists, Westbrook, 5.5 assists, Durant 3.5 assists, Carmello 3.6 assists
By comparison, I don't see Bryant as being as horrible as you say.
*edit* In fact, Carmello, whom is a notorious ballhog, and not a passer, had more assists than Durant. So I would call Durant into question for this.
Kobe is a great player but he is egoistic one.
Durant cannot be compared to Kove, beacause he touches the ball for much less time. Same about Mello.
Westbrook is a player much similar to Kobe in that sense, and he is also one that does not share the ball much.
Hence, it is not surprising that his stats are similar to Kobe's.
Hope that now you will not compare Kobe with Chandler or Howard which are Ceners that not really touch the ball that often, and in general their role is not to make a play for their teamate in comparison to a PG/SG which Kobe is.
Saying that Kobe shots 23 shots per game, and at least 3 shots more than the other players in the league, proves exactly what I am saying.
He touches the ball more than any. And the outcome of it is that he will shoot more than others compared to passing the ball.
His shooting more doesn't mean he touches it more. Just means, he shoots it more.
For example: just because.... Westbrook, touches the ball, passes the ball to Durant or Harden, they shoot and miss, no assist for Westbrook, does not mean he never touched the ball.
I would like to see empircal evidence that supports your "claim" that Kobe touches the ball more than anyone. For 1. I guarentee you that there are players whom touch the ball more.
secondly, have you ever watched Carmello play? You're telling me he touches the ball for less time? Again, I would like empiracal evidence that supports your "claim"
