If you go to the standings page of any league, and click on the title of the conference (i.e. The Big 8 link or the Great 8 Link), you can see the last login date of all the teams, and if they are bot or not.

I had forgotten I could see the conference overviews for anyone.

Presumably, you just determine bot status by date of last login then.

So it is an entirely manual process, where you have to click through every league. That's the part I wasn't sure about.

I think I counted 14 Div. III teams either already bot or at least 4 weeks since last login. Of those, 9 are in 8th place. I think 1 was in 5th place.

I count 2 Div. II teams that are bot.

So, what does that mean?

At least 2 spots available for auto-promotion into D3 in the off-season. Outright promotion is better because you get the attendance boost.

I took a look at the leagues today to get a sense of how this will play out.

Div II has 2 demoting bots

Div III has 11 presumably demoting bots (7 are in 8th place, 2 in 7th, 2 in 6th) and 3 teams likely to go bot before the next season (1 of those is in 5th place, the others will be demoting anyway), plus 1 that might go bot in time, but I'm not certain and it will be demoting anyway.

There are 15 teams in Div. IV that are 21-0 going into the season finales:

I'll try to update that after tonight's games so we'll see how it looks. I didn't look for 1-loss teams at this point. I suppose more than 2 upsets are certainly possible and a 21-1 team could bot promote, too.

Wasn't trying to be impatient. Just doing some research and figured I'd post it.

One of the 15 unbeatens in D-IV lost tonight, and it was the one with the best PD. That could be important if a team gets to bot-promote.

Next update: 1 of the 22-0 teams lost in the quarterfinals, Rockford of IV.55.

Here are some facts about the availability of Bot promotion among some others:

No Bots in NBBA

Division 2
Relegating Bots: 2
Domstad Devils, Valhalla!

Division 3
Non-Relegating Bots: 1
PBC Verona*

Relegating Bots: 11
Grim Koalas, BuckNuts, Hunterkirualeorio, Denver Extraterrestrials, Savage Slammers, The Meatbusters, Yenkins Bombers, Tai'shan Crimson Eagles, Flying Cows, Midget Dunkers, Wine Country Boozers

(* means that a team has not gone bot yet, but will go bot before off-season processing if they don't log in.)

This means that:
There is no spots open for a D3 team to bot promote.
There are 3* spots open for a D4 team to bot promote.
There are at least 14 spots for a D5 team to bot promote.

This also means:
There are 2 D.III leagues that will not get a D.II demotee, giving a D.III league a 12.5% chance of not getting one.
There are 11 D.IV leagues that will not get a D.III demotee, giving a D.IV league a 17.19% chance of not getting one.

All 13 of the remaining 22-0 teams in Div. IV won their conference finals.
