Great start !

Many of us keep looking for 5/5 18 years old trainees. However, I always think of 4/5 19 years old trainees or 4/4 18 years old are good enough.

I dont know if I'm missing something re training. I want to train my young player/s but when I do my older players
drop down in their attributes. Is their any way to just train one or two players.

Thanks,

Players aged 33 and older will have random drops in attributes, training has nothing to do with it. And the older they are, the faster they drop.

You can't stop older players from getting worse but if you own a trainer with 'career extension' it will slow it down.

Nice height if you want him to have tons of secondaries. If you come across on 7 foot PG's or 6 foot C's, they are awesome. They have secondaries already

Especially the 7' PGs. Most guys in the 7'+ range are Cs and often have a whole lot of 1s in their guard skills, which is a sad waste.

Just like the previous poster stated, secondaries are important for EVERY position. Especially at the higher levels. The sooner one learns this the more quickly they're ahead of 90% of the people playing this game.

That guide you linked was written in 2010 and people have adjusted their thinking considerably since that time.

As you also mentioned, creating good all-around skills is hard to achieve but that's exactly why those players are so valuable. These days, 24-25 year olds with Hall of Fame/All-time-great potential go unwanted (and sometimes retire) on the transfer wire because their trainer/owner pumped up the primaries, ignored the secondaries completely and nobody playing in the higher divisions wants a high salaried player with terrible secondaries.
