Australia-Phillipines lock horns in all-time great battle
(34831)

For those unable to watch, this is a game well worth your time. The battles between the PFs, between the guards, and the 2 monster Cs, this game had it all. In the final play of the 4th quarter the 2 top scoring PFs battled it out with one drawing a foul, team down by one, and is injured on the play! Enter the sub who manages to make one FT, and the game goes to OT.

MVPs
Ok, so shoot me down here, but i cannot choose 3 guys. There are 4 players i will give awards to, starting with a tied game MVP

3 votes(tied)- Nicodemou (18pts, 9 assists, 6 rebs, keeping his opponent to 3-10, and knocking in 4 clutch free throws down the stretch).

2 votes- E Price (22 pts, 7 boards, 4 asssits)

Nicodemou does it all as Australia fool Malaysia
(34836)

The Australian team were a cohesive unit tonight against Malaysia as the team prepares for a chance to earn a world cup position for its 3rd straight campaign. Whilst there are several key matches before the playoff game, there is no denying the team is focused on not only getting to the semi final, but to earning a spot on the big stage next season.

Captain Eric Nicodemou led all scorers with 23 points, while new inclusion to the u21 side Peter Hoare showed why he has been so highly rated over the past few seasons with 18 points off the bench. The team showed tonight a range of offensive strategies with the team shooting close to 50% from the field against quality opposition.

MVP votes:
3 votes- Nicodemou - 23pts, 4 assists, 3 boards, 1 steal.
2 votes- Pete Hoare- 18pts, 6 boards, 1 assist.
1 vote- Edmonson- 5 assists, 4 boards, 3 pts, and held opponent to 8-22 fg%.

With respected opponent Philippines defeating Iran in a big game tonight (34834) the writing is on the wall for a showdown between to the 2 clubs. In the other division, Taiwan stands as the team to stop, while China flirt with elimination but will find a way to make the semi and compete for the World cup tournament. Look for them to destroy someones dreams before the tournament is over. I just hope it is not ours!

Next week we face India.

Australia 117, India 60
(34838)

A nice 57 point win tonight which sealed Australia as the no1 position for the semi final in a fortnights time. With Philippines and Iran both stumbling to lower positioned teams, There is a 4 way tie for 2nd position. The Philippines are in the box seat to claim the 2nd spot with a handy percentage lead on Iran. Likewise in Pool E, Taiwan stumbled to Singapore, meaning the semi finals are all but sealed, unless an unpredicted blowout occurs.

MVPS

2 votes- Freeman- 20pts, 5 assists, 4 3pters, 2 rebs, 1 stl.
1 vote- Raichura- 15 boards, 13 pts, 2 blks, 2 stls.

Iran go at Australia, Gallant effort.
(34842)

A final all out effort from Iran pushed Australia to a close game in the final round robin game before the finals. Izad'doust was played out of position at Center, creating a mismatch against some of Australia's bigs, forcing to step outside and play defense. But Australias team proved too balanced as they won every category except turnovers.

MVPs
3 votes- Wills (18pts on 8-16FG, 5 rebs, 5 assists, 3 blocks, 1 steal).
2 votes- Raichura (15pts on 7-13FG, 11 rebs, 2 blocks, 1 steal)
1 vote- Nicodemou (12pts on 5 of 9FG, 5 rebs, 4 assists, 4 steals, 1 block, 14.5 rating).

Semi Final vs Taiwan next week, winner plays in the world cup.
