I know I won't be buying supporter after it drops below 30K...I don't want the game just to stop working one day out of the blue while I still have money tied up in it. And you know people won't be getting refunds...

Does it really make a difference for you? Your country is screwed anyway - even if we hit 60k again, you wont see significant numbers of users in Japan...

Why would the game just suddenly shut down? Does it really cost that much money to at least keep BuzzerBeater running?

Hi guys,

Figured this topic could use some BB input.

As background: Yes, our users have dropped in the last year. Part of the reason for this (granted, not the entire reason) was that we cut out a lot of high-priced advertising on some external sites that wasn't paying off anymore. In the end, this move improved BB's bottom line, though the community did shrink. That said, we're certainly not against growing our userbase, and if you can think of ways of involving the current community to help us grow, I'm happy for us to do what we can.

It's no secret that we have pretty limited development resources, so we have to choose carefully how we spend our effort and cash flow. Over the past year especially, we've chosen to focus on making the game better for current users instead of just trying to make the userbase bigger. The recent game engine changes, the revised salary formula for JR and SB, and the new offense/defense prediction system are examples of this.

To be clear, we have no intention of shutting down BB, either now or in the future. Through current Supporter and ad revenue, the game currently supports itself, and this isn't likely to change anytime soon (even if the userbase drops substantially). And, even if something terrible like that *did* happen, I hope you don't truly think we would just blindside everyone and run away with your $40 -- I think we owe our long-standing community better than that. :-)

Let me know if there is anything I can to to help clear this up further.

Best,
Mark

Thanks Mark.
This was really helpful. The one thing that I would like taken care of is the micronation issue. Even allowing us to have a 2nd team as a benefit of Supporter would draw in perhaps 1000 more paying customers.

Well, it is nice to know that you have a way of refunding money.
So, on that point. Let's say a user wants to stop playing Buzzerbeater because he isn't happy about the product in front of him. This Supporter still has 8 months left on his supporter and would be willing to take a refund of half.
Would you(BBs) refund his money?

And it isn't like this was a one time spontaneous purchase and now he has lost the BB fever. This supporter has been supporting this game since season 7 and thinks its time to add his name to the list of leaving players.

Can you give us some data of supporters number? Actual and history data ... I can't believe the number of supporters are not descreasing as well. E.g. there were a lot of supporters in past in our country and now there are just few.

Wow!! This is a strange post. I am playing the game in a micro nation and it just isn't fun anymore. I thought dropping down and tanking would bring back some of the old fun factor but it hasn't.
If I buy something and don't like it...what do most people do? They return it for a refund. I am not satisfied with the game anymore, so why shouldn't I get a refund for money I spent? I even offered to take back only half the supporter price even though I have 8 months left on my supporter.
Should I be forced to keep on playing the game while I still have money invested in it? That is wrong in my opinion.
If I bought a pair a shoes and after wearing them for a week, and my feet started hurting. I would take them back, not keep wearing them.
Like I said before...I am not some new user who lost a game and all of a sudden I want my money back...I have been supporting the game since season 7, I even bought two of my friends 1 year supporter packages for their birthdays in May.(BB Supporter makes for a good B-Day present for the BB freak)
And I am seriously doubting that I am the 1st person to ask this question, You do realize that there have been 20,000 users leave since season 11.
