My suggestion to keep people from leaving the game is to refrain from removing tactical options, like blank lineup. It's not wrong, and doesn't need fixing (as I discussed in my 2nd? post to you).

I would further suggest that if your friends only set blank lineups and did nothing else, that's a reflection of their own lack of imagination. No amount of reducing options in the game will change that. My guess is that these kind of managers would simply choose the same exact llineups every game, even if there were no blank option. They'd set a default lineup, and nothing else. Thus, in removing blank lineups you have not changed the behavior of this type of manager, but at the same time you've reduced the tactical and strategic options available to more active, and thoughtful, managers.

I can't quite fathom why you feel discussing and debating your suggestion should not be allowed in this topic. It seems perfectly on topic to me. I love the game too, and don't want it to see it harmed. And it's hardly crapping on your ideas when I give detailed reasons why I disagree with them.

Fair enough.....
So tell me this.....Why would BB-Marin talk about removing Blanks from NT games if he didn't think there was something wrong with blanks?
(I am too tired to try and fined post tonight)

I have no idea. Ask him. Honestly, I've never heard from any manager who has left that blank lineups were part of the reason they did. But, if BB has done a large user survey and found that blank lineups are a stated reason for people leaving, then I'm for removing them. (hopefully they'd do a survey of current users too).

If they do that though, then Marin's next job should be fixing the other substitution choices.

I disagree and we all have the right to do so. Blank line up is what?? Look the game has enthu . If they know they are going to lose a few games because hard opp. why not just play weak and gain enthu. It helps the team in the long haul?

Blank lineup does not benifit the team in the log haul to the game. Making him log in is better than then allowing him play without even logging in. I don't how you can dispute that point? The game needs active user?

I don't see your argument on tactics beyond switching player in differ positions. Other than that they will just LI or LP .. You don't have to log in to do that. Every game played and training aspect of the game during the week deserves the managers full attention if this a sim managerial. That how I see it.

You can disagree if like. which is fair

Since you're saying "honestly", I can trust you; however, from my side, I've plenty of examples. I've never investigated/understood the reasons of this "black hole" in the game tactics, but I've always reputed it quite a non-sense. Ok, there are many things that should be changed in this game, but this in my opinion is one of the most obvious.

I still find it strange that people think removing blank lineups would actually change the behavior of managers who simply use the same lineup for every game. It seems to me that if there were no blank lineup option, these managers would still use the same lineup every game, just it would be a set lineup, rather than blank.

But, like I said above, I'm not totally against removing blanks, provided that the substitution pattern choices are improved. Right now, I'd only trust "strictly follow depth chart", and "let coach decide". But those are limited in what players you can get on the floor at any particular time. So, either we get to manually set multiple lineups that have different player groupings, or the 'pick from depth chart' choice needs to work.

To some extent, I wonder if the new GDP changes will start to change the "monotony" of some teams using the same lineups over and over. Depending on how that works in league games (I really wish they had let us test it in private leagues-this is a real shame to only use scrimmages), it's possible that more managers will try changing things up.

well, i don´t think, the blank-lineup is the reason, why number of users is declining, to be honest, i for example never thought about as a "problem".
There other things to fix first:
-most important is doing more about the tanking-problem, which is really an issue
-better seed, more income: it´s still a problem, that financel whise it´s better (for the season) to be 5.-7th than ending 3.or 4.. And even to be 1. or 2. isn´t financel more safe, after the 50%-50% split. That´s one reason people start tanking, after they are somekind of "safe" to stay in their division.
-Inside Offense/MM - Problem: well we´ll see, what kind of change the new tactics do for that...

The biggest issue is tanking IMO. This season in my div II a team dropped from Div I and ran a roster 30% less the salary floor. There should of been no one turning up to their games by the end of the season. Until they make it a huge hit to finance when tanking people will do it. In most higher leagues it all comes down to who has the biggest bank balance and wants to win this season. Too many teams tank and bank for seasons and then go hard to go all the way to the top before dropping back down the leagues to bank some more cash.

im in such bad shape financially i would be better off to tank this season and go back to DV and make some money,,,,but I would quit before I did that, the idea makes me sick. If I cant go forward then there is no use in playing...the money is to exacting. the fans are too harsh. said it over and over.
