because once again we arrive at the problem of day trading becoming the only meaningful strategy if you want to contend long term.

That's just simply not the case.

Sure it is.

Look at it this way. Player 1 could build his team, train, build up his arena, and do everything besides day trade extremely well. He could do this for few seasons until he has managed to climb a couple of divisions, and is working his way to the top.

Meanwhile, player 2 comes in later, and in a single season of daytrading has the money to buy a better team than player 1. He will enevitable catch and pass player one because the amount of money one can make in the market daytrading is essentially unlimited, while the money one can make in any other facet of the game has definite limits.

Maybe its just me, but I had the impression that people were supposed to rise to the top gradually based on overall managerial skills, not by mastering a single all-important element.

Look, I love this game, and accept it how it is, but there is always room for improvement. I also feel it is important to make sure that the game is balanced to keep it interesting in the long term.

I'll use my own team as an example, I know that I have made some mistakes in developing my team. I couldn't decide early how I wanted to train, so some of my trainees are a bit behind the curve. I also didn't build my stadium as fast as I ought, leaving mne a bit behind some contemporaries. That being said I think that I have done a relatively decent job of it, and financially I have had steady growth. Yet there are a large number of players in the game who have been here half as long as me who have 10 times the money I do. That does not make sense to me. Even if my stadium was triplet the current size, and selling out every game, I would not have the money available that some of those guys who have only been playing a month or two have.

This seems odd.

This is only possible because day trading is obviously superior to any other facet of the game. So superior that many people here feel they cannot compete with it, no matter how well they manage their team otherwise. I do love this game, but when it reaches the point that I am forced to spend my time scouring the market and crunching numbers just to compete then it will not be nearly as fun. (even though I will probably still play because it will still be better than most other games)

i apologize, but i haven't read every post in this thread because i'm short in time so maybe my arguments may not be new ;-)

I have a clear opinion about day trading. BB is a basketball game and no economic simulator. It is so simple as that.

My current situation is that i'm very successful in my third dicision team in germany with a score of 11 - 1. But beside all my success on the floor, all my work in training, all my thoughts about a tactic to beat my oponents, i'm not able to buy a player on thr TL to booster my squad. I'm not talking about stars or realy good players, i'm talking about average guys with which i would have to work a lot in training to make them a reinforcement. The "normal economic" will never be so profitable like daytrading.

So all my success in training or on the floor will never be enough to beat a day trader. The prices for players are exploding right now. If you are a manager like me and you are playing BB as basketball game with an economic part and not as an economic game with a basketball part, i'm afraid you will not have a chance in the future.

So what is to do ? Well, from my side of view daytrading has to be forbidden.

I want to challenge with manager all around the world in the game that i love....Basketball......and not in game that named "Who is staying the most time in the transferlist and selling as much players as he can for the highest possible amount of money".

I hope that there will come a solution, because i like this game. If there comes no solution my first year as a supporter will be my last year....so simple as that !

something to add from my point of the view...

sometimes it sounds daytrading is the easiest thing in the world and if you just have enough time, it works on its own... its not like that, its quite hard to manage and there is penalties already, also it sounds daytraders have no clue of tactics just have the better players and win of course that, its not true...

anyway if there would a poll probably 95% vote against daytrading, at least that what it sounds here, so something has to be changed, i just hope it works fine for all of us.

@ Your_Imaginary_Friend, well something what does not sound good to me is a promising idea, that kind of argument just gives me a big smile in my face...

I can see how it might sound that way, and that is not what we are trying to imply at all. (At least I am not)

I recognize that it definitely takes skill to day trade succesfully. I applaud the skill. I certainly wouldn't imply that it was someones only talent, just that it is the talent that renders unimportant any other talent.

The problem I have is that it is a dominant strategy economically. If one person day trades and the other tries to do it any other way the outcome is predictable.

Daytraders still need good tactics, but have a huge advantage financially, which diminishes the importance of the roster building facet of the game. A non day trader could be very skilled at every other part of the game yet have no chance against a day trader if that trader has bought a sufficiently superior team. I consider this to be a bit of a problem.

I (very much) apologize to everybody for doing it, and im sorry for the profit that i made, i feel kind of a cheater anyway...

are you planning to donate your trading profits to be divided equally amongst those that sadly cannot spend the time required to replicate your success?

if you feel like a cheater it is because you know that you are getting over the market rate for the players you list.... have any of your transfers ever been adjusted?

im not gettin over the market rate, i buy under thats the trick you know... ^^
and you cant adjust it coz no one knows the perfect price for that many skill-combinations... anyway i thought its a managing game and a good manager knows how to make profit...

ha only messing with ya.... when i started there were lots of digs at me and my approach to the game... it was amazing back in the day...

the taxes have scared off a fair few people and in a way i think have created even more of a hole for the few left to exploit

anyway still fun when someone takes a player off your hands at a nice profit - i restrict my trading to players that will get some minutes - perhaps a boost in GS and also an outside chance of a pop (step trade)

one of the first threads in this game i ever read was like this:
you saw that guy from austria`s top division hes buying all the free agents and nobody can stop him, its unfair hes making to much profit ^^
so i found out who he was and for sure he became an idol to me ;)

yes steptrades improve profits very quick ^^

and not much going on the market at the moment ;)
