This is another big change which affects long-term strategy and it is shame it has not been cleared at the start of the season that it will come up in the middle of it. Now we're having 4,5 weeks to rebuild our strategy once again. This was first announced in Season 8 and reaffirmed in the forums when we were asked about it at the start of this season. When we announced it we made it clear that it would be a big change affecting long-term strategy and that's why it was announced so far in advance. In fact, we said on 2/24/2009 specifically this:More details will be forthcoming as we get closer, but to avoid spoiling long-term strategies, we want to give maximum advance notice. In the game engine, your SG (for example) will no longer be restricted to guarding an opposing SG in a man-to-man defense. In other words, your position in the offense will not have to match your position in the defense.Incidentally, you were the one who translated the above to:Detaily vám budou objasnÄ›ny, aĹľ bude pĹ™ipraveno vĂce, ale abychom zabránili narušenĂ dlouhodobĂ˝ch strategiĂ, chceme vás o novinkách informovat uĹľ nynĂ.Vašemu hráči na pozici SG (napĹ™Ăklad) uĹľ nebude v hernĂm enginu nemÄ›nÄ› pĹ™idÄ›leno, aby bránil pouze hráče SG ze soupeĹ™ova tĂ˝mu pĹ™i osobnĂ obranÄ›. JinĂ˝mi slovy to znamená, Ĺľe hráčova pozice v Ăştoku se nebude muset shodovat s jeho pozicĂ v obranÄ›.So I'd like to think you were aware that we had announced this.I have no problem with people criticizing the direction we're taking the game - while we think hard about each of these choices, I know that we don't always get it right. But I think it's unfair to say that these are major changes coming as a surprise - we've tried hard to announce these things ahead of time and to explain that they would be significant changes. Having said that, apparently there were quite a few people who were indeed surprised, which means people are not having the reaction to news posts that we expected. So, I'm open to suggestions about ways to better announce upcoming changes if you have any thoughts on the matter.

Man, you don't mean that, do you? This is now 2.6 seasons back; you dont want me to start rebuilding my team and to wait 3 seasons to the feature to come up (when it is not even close to certain that it will come up). I think 10 season early news would be much better. But this is all over again and again:- there are new features introduced in the GE and economics - nobody had a clue one week before they were actually introduced
I think 10 season early news would be much better.
So you think you can train players in half a season to match new tactics?
If this would have been cleared in Season 10 news, it is 1 season to match new tactics. It is definitely more than 4.5 weeks as it is now.
