It happens quite often for me. I don't have a lot of competitive games in my series. I often play my reserves as starters and my regulars are backups. It sucks from a training perspective and from my opponent's side of things.

In general, if you're going to blow the other team out you're going to be starting your reserves. This is especially true if you are an experienced player against a newbie.

Just read this thread, so apologies for the bump.

Obviously, such an idea has training implications - is it being considered?

I don't get it - there are already tactical ways to get as bigger margin as possible. Why should it be easier? If you want to have only 5 competent players it's your choice. If you have somewhat competent substitutes... The engine doesn't try to play badly on prurpose. And if you really need to win by a big margin try to find out how to achieve this. There's no point why game engine should not try to score as many points as possible within the limits provided by your settings.

Since points differential is the first tie breaker, it might also be helpful for that too...

Well, there is a way fot doing that.

Simply select your starting lineup without reserves/backups. The 5 will play 48 minutes.

What you ppl are asking is a safe way of doing this - after all, a foul blowout or an injury would screw. But there's always te possibility of selecting 6 players - making one of them a universal backup.

Not giving your players any rest during a game is an almost guaranteed way not to win by as much as possible.

As the point difference is the first tie-breaker, there should be a possibility to make your coach trying to win with as many points as possible. Why do you have to do "tricks" like no reserves with an additional risk (injury, foul trouble) to achieve that? It just doesn´t make sense that your coach gets your reserve playing the last quarter because your team will win anyway and your team then ends up in position 5 instead of reaching the playoffs just because of that stupid engine...
