One other thing...what about guys who are sitting on huge nest eggs of cash right now? Some people may have just spent money on players unaware of the changes, and now there will be an enormous advantage to guys who just happened to have not spent their money, since they will be the only ones who have any next season.

Yah, I just dropped $2 million last week on a player with a huge salary to make a playoff run - and I would never have done it if I'd have known this was going to happen...

To be honest, I think any team can be competitive if you manage it smartly enough - I got promoted to Div I after my first full season (3), and even though I didn't stay there long, my team is still strong and competitive in Div II (no matter how much I bitch about it during a losing streak -lol-) and has the capability to promote again...

It just seems like the percentages are really high - we have very weak sponsorship money compared to other games, and the gate doesn't provide that much as it is - it took me a long time to build the money to BUY that player; I had to train and sell a few players - and even then, most of the strong players cost much more that $2M these days. This is going to probably crash the market - anyone with cash left over will go on a bonanza, and prices will drop as nobody will be able to afford the players any more, and all that will happen is that disparity will be created between those who kept or hoarded cash and those who spent.

Whenever major shifts in a market occur, it always unbalances everything - because people spend based around a constant or a known trend. Unpredictability will screw up everyone's economy now and likely wreak havoc.

Further, you can imagine the massive profits that BC Torooo is making. This acts in the direction of competitive balance, not against it.

I say we just kick Torooo, KDB and Drunkers out of the game and keep things as they are

the new formula will improve your attendance dramatically as you're hosting the best teams in Canada

I agree that sounds helpful.

Agreed. I guess what I meant is that I do not really see how this adresses that imbalance either since it seems to promote the status quo more than anything.

No matter when we make this announcement, it will be a problem in this regard

True enough, but a bit more warning might have allowed for some preparation, though I suppose that would come with its own problems.

you should not expect to see massive deflation,

This was actually not my concern. I was thinking that teams with a nest egg would be less affected by the changes since their budgets would be operating with a cushion.

I would ask that you take a look at how the numbers actually end up working out before panicking

This is also a good point since I ran the numbers based on this years attendance, which is why my overall stance is one of wait and see.

or just make their franchises relocate to a new city/arena and make them start over, with their current players sent out in a dispersement draft :)

This is not a change we had been looking at when designing the new system, but it's possibly something that we should be. Let me think about this one a bit?

Please do - as for teams in a similar situation to mine if we arent able to rely on travelling fans we shouldnt probably consider assembling a team capable of advancing a few rounds in the BB3 as we wouldn't be able to sustain the wages as easily as a top team from a more established nation... yes you could argue we can go 21-1 or 22-0 and get more attendence naturally than teams going 17-5 or 18-4.

But there are many minor nations out there with good competitive managers - we could all sit back and do the minimum required to try and win our domestic honors but I think we all want to try and do a little bit more than that. Longer term this would almost certainly mean a team from a developed userbase country winning the BB3 unless of course a side went for glory at the expense of ruining their franchise for the subsequent seasons...

EDIT - Man I suck at quotes!!

I have to first complain about the short notice. These extreme changes are something that should've been announced much earlier (like the beginning of the season) so people that plan ahead could be given the chance to adjust. This is just extremely irresponsible.

I started playing Buzzerbeater in the middle of season 2. I have spent the past several seasons following the rules and building my team in such a way that I have nearly bridged the gap between teams that had a season and a half headstart. I saved and trained and have now purchased a player that will finally allow me to compete with those teams and 1 week later the rules change in such a way that I have, effectively, been punished for playing the game correctly.

I certainly hope that this move wasn't made because of the purchase I (and other people) made before the playoff deadline. The reason I (and many others) had to pay so much was because of the ratio of high level guards to high level PF/C's. Look at any NT team and you will notice that the highest salary/skilled players are centers. That is because, for the longest time, they were the fastest and easiest to train. Yes there were changes made, but those changes will take time and are only now starting to show with increased guard trainers. Those few guards are now at a premium and I would assume the recent spike consisted mostly of those guards being purchased.

I’m probably coming off a bit bitter and I’m sure that the other changes will balance things out. I’m venting a bit because I’ve been affected more that nearly anyone else in the game due to my recent purchase. Changing from a “trickle down” economy to a “tax the rich” one overnight is quite severe and really should’ve been made gradually. I do hope this wasn’t done just as some sort of showing of support for Barack Obama. :)

I look forward to seeing how these changes shape the game and do hope that I am overreacting a bit. It was just a tough thing to swallow after going about business the way you intended and then having you change the rules so abruptly.
