Pini, you´re simply wrong. You must exercise your pick, but you do not have to sign him. The contract once signed is guaranteed, but it´s not like the player picks or picks not whether he has to be signed. Plain wrong.

Pini, you don't realise that this is not going to happen.

If you traded your player, it means that he was good, or that you paid for that by something else. So anyway you have paid for that draft pick.
No trades allowed in this game, hence we can't force people to keep the draft picks. There you go.

Let's make it simple - give a name of a single player who had been selected at the first round, who had not been traded by that team and did not decided to go abroad, and that the team itself decide not to include in their roster and did not paid him.

It's a shame...
You will need to do your best and pick well and train well.

If we will continue with your line of argument, we can also say that...
There is also no way to get a "hot shot" that will invest money on a team, unlike in the real world where multi-bilionare may purchase a team and change all of their future.
So let's define that each team starts the season with the same amount of assets.

This claim is void.

What hot shot. Stop smoking already.
We have income from merchandising, tv contract, arena income. There is no investment. What the hell are you talking about. How can teams start the season with the same assets? Does money mystically dissapear? If you still have not noticed this game continues beyond one season. Everything you do before the next season, affects that next season aswell.
Your brain is void.

BB is not NBA. NBA: 30 teams. BB: 50.000 teams.

It's a basketball game, not a NBA game. Rules CAN be different.
This is just not an argument nor a claim that anyone could refer to...

Geez we are all very fiesty today arent we! Is all the Xmas shopping stress starting to get to people! Relax peoples relax!

Pini suggestion is spawned out of the issue related to the draft. Often we see teams not investing in the draft, complaining about the draft, sayingt he draft is useless etc etc etc. And its true, the current draft has issues.
Pini has identified this as an issue and is suggesting a solution for it.

The idea is that by not allowing to fire or sell a player drafted (at least on the first round/s), will cause ALL users to put more into their training and into their scouting.

This is semi-true. On the surface, it would seem that teams will invest more in order to get a better chance at getting a draft pick that they want to keep, because they HAVE to keep him.
BUT, as someone else pointed out, it would actually probably lead to teams investing in the draft to find the WORST player in the draft, (ie: lowest salary) so that for the next year, they pay the least amount of money.

So the idea is good in theory, and i think its a good idea to try and emulate what happens in the NBA. The problem with that, is that in NBA, the teams have a staff of people who specialise in player management, salary management, training, accounts, trainee development etc etc. And in particular, the GM's and team presidents, who in liasing with the coach, will draft/trade/fire players based on performance, market availability, finances etc etc.
These staff get paid salary and they do it for a living. If we make this game too much like NBA, im going to have to hire an assistant to make me coffee, and a market strategist to work out the best buy's on the market, and im going to have to ask BB to pay me a salary :) :) :) :) :)

Point being is, the draft problem is a problem. But making the game exactly like NBA is probably not the solution. Takign elements of NBA is a better idea, where appropriate.

So what about a slight modification to the suggestion.
First round draft pick if sold before all-star break, will be paid 6 weeks of salary
You could say that, being a first round draft pick, he is peeved that he has been dicked around by your team, when he could have nominated for the Europe league and be starting over there, and be a basketball celebrity, hangin' out with french groupies and becoming Berlusconi's favourite basketball star. So he needs compensation for that.

I dont think this idea itself will resolve the draft issues. But I think there needs to be an overhaul of the current drafting system, including other idea's that have been put forward, such as a different potential distribution/D-league, etc etc. Perhaps this suggestion can be a component of this overhaul.
