I understand how it works, I just don't like the idea. The realism aspect is not about whether or not the this type of auction exists. The realism is letting people overbid for players. When has a player ever been offered say a 500k signing bonus and was like "Nah man I only want a little bit more than the last guy offered."

This is a basketball simulator, it's pretend.

And your time spent in the game and on the forums is always going to affect your strength in the game just by seeing how things play out and listening to new strategies and the like.

Someone who logs into the game every day and spends 5-10 minutes on the forums and viewing the TL is always going to have an advantage over someone who only checks in every few weeks or once a week even.

Taking the time to implement this idea is not worth it when you can already decide to bid as much as you want for a player. It's slightly redundant. Especially when there is so many other things (LI dominance and Micro-Nation issues) to worry about.

Not to mention realism, I know this is a game, but it's also supposed to be a simulator. Teams overpay for players ALL the time. If someone wants to bid a silly amount on a player then they are perfectly within their right to make that mistake.
The starting price will still be there and people will still having bidding wars, people will still get overpaid. It's about making the game easy and accessible for all players, it's not about saving money.

I just don't see how letting people get a good deal regardless of how much they offered is fair. If they think a player is worth 50k then they should have no problem spending the 50k on him.
I really don't think autobid saves anyone any money. I think the biggest change is it would make this game a little more user friendly and easier to manage. It's a complex game, it's not going to have a huge impact.

In terms of the market, I just don't see it having a game breaking impact, the market will even out a bit. Desirable players sold during lower traffic times will go for more money and desirable players sold during higher traffic times will go for less, because autobidding will increase access to transfer list players to all users. You're correct, there will be a case here and there where someone would've bid an insane amount. My opinion is that it's not a big impact and not a negative impact either. I suspect, with no evidence to back this up, the more common scenario for a user overbidding is when the user feels like "I must have this player" and engages in a bid war. The autobid, in theory, shouldn't change that.

I don't think it's redundant at all, it's adding automation. I also wouldn't claim to know the proper priority for this among other issues, but making the game easier without disturbing the complexity of the mechanics is a means of retaining users.

If you are willing to pay $100,000 for a guy then just make a $100,000 bid. If you want a bidding war then you need to be on to make the bids.

Getting good deals on the market can take some work and I like that. GMs that are willing to put more time should have an easier time getting the players that they want.

I can understand your point of view and I agree with making the game more accessible.

Another issue, which would be is during that last 10 or so minutes when the bids really start to heat up I feel as though I can see what the market is for a player. If one guy put a bid on the player 2 days ago I know that I can just go up by 1k on him and he's probably not paying attention.

When I am looking for a player on the TL I am looking at my roster and have a basic idea of what I want. However I may think this player is worth 40k-90k I just got on and I'm looking at the player, while I bid I'm looking further ahead on the TL and I see someone with similar skills going for less. I know someone else is going to bid on the guy that's now going for 50k I can let that guy win. I feel like that with the auto bid, when does the auction end. If I bid at the last second on a guy I just saw does it just continue 3 more minutes.

And what about the times you see someone and you bid on him, you are the only bid for like 3 days and then boom some guy comes in and bids 30k more than you. And you are like "Ok screw this guy" I bid this guy up to 40k more than what he was going to pay and then I just leave him. That's fun to me.

I feel that auto-bidding takes your own control away which is why I would not use the feature. You are on the ropes about whether you want a player. You hit the bid button and you are immediately struck by another prospective player or you decide hey maybe this would have been better spent on my arena or I just saw a good staff member, but now you are locked into that possible salary commitment all the way up until whatever you said you'd spend be it 100-200k as it is now you just have to hope someone goes up one time on you. But with this system you have to wait until people gradually beat you. If they do this slowly it can really stink.
