I did real quick math so I could be wrong, but I came up with the Big 8 going 29-35 in IL play, which I don't think I would describe as mediocre.

Or we could look at national rankings. Even throwing out the two outliers—Contortionists and Unrepentant Gunners—the Big 8 comes out with an average NR of ~51, while the Great 8's average is ~35. Again, removing the two outliers, the difference in median ranking of the two leagues is even more pronounced: Big 8's median is 59 while the Great 8's is 32. I guess you can draw your own conclusions:-)

Calling my season mediocre is a great compliment. =D I really hope the draft system gets a revamp sometime. I think it'd the weakest portion of the game. I'd still call the chance that i get a good trainee 50/50.

Adj. 1. mediocre - moderate to inferior in quality; "they improved the quality from mediocre to above average"
second-rate
inferior - of low or inferior quality
2. mediocre - lacking exceptional quality or ability; "a novel of average merit"; "only a fair performance of the sonata"; "in fair health"; "the caliber of the students has gone from mediocre to above average"; "the performance was middling at best"
middling, average, fair
ordinary - not exceptional in any way especially in quality or ability or size or degree; "ordinary everyday objects"; "ordinary decency"; "an ordinary day"; "an ordinary wine"
3. mediocre - poor to middling in quality; "there have been good and mediocre and bad artists"
bad - having undesirable or negative qualities; "a bad report card"; "his sloppy appearance made a bad impression"; "a bad little boy"; "clothes in bad shape"; "a bad cut"; "bad luck"; "the news was very bad"; "the reviews were bad"; "the pay is bad"; "it was a bad light for reading"; "the movie was a bad choice"

Now take a look at those records. 10-11's and 11-10's. Seems pretty average to me. Losing record vs Great 8, that's not even average. And you can't even blame Contortionists for the uneveness, we have TUG. How can this even be disputed?

Edit b/c I can't get the bold tags correct ^.^

Amen brother. Your preaching to the choir. Weren't the devs discussing the implementation of a change in the future? Possibly? I seem to recall something to the effect. Hope they're actively working on something.

I do think it'll be an interesting day tomorrow for you 4 however. I'm interested in seeing who values a playoff spot or not.

Seems the Great 8 has a few, um, reloading teams maybe. Our side seems a bit top heavy this season, but I expect PHO and the Quakers to be better next season.

The Big 8 holdovers appear to also become a lot better next season. Next season, being my next to last here before I go back to III, will be a toughie. My team will probably go down in record since I'm so perimeter heavy.

This is all under the assumption that training regimens are in full effect and swing over to next season.

Good luck to the 4 tomorrow. I'm rooting for some more than others :) But I hope there are some sweet games in the very least!

Edit: Yay for post #300 in this thread. It's all mine!

I'm a firm believer that national rankings don't mean squat.

That said, I'd be interested in knowing how they're calculated.

Please sir. You are barely ahead of us. And 10-11 > 8-13 no? So half your conference is less than mediocre?

Well, I would agree somewhat with you there. Probably too much weight is placed on a team's Cup run, but the rankings are not totally meaningless. Your ranking, for example, is a very solid one and is probably pretty much spot on.

2nd through 6th all being 10-11 and 11-10 implies parody, not necessarily that they are all average.

If you throw out games that Jelme and TUG took part in, the Big 8 went 22-27 in IL play. That's a difference of 2.5 games which is small imo. Maybe I'm cherry picking as there are only 49 games, but that seems like a reasonably close margin and implies that the leagues are about the same.
