As far as I know, the answer is yes. (i think I read such a question before, it didn't happen to one of my players)

The position will change. I think a point guard is a player whose passing and handling are in his highest 4 skills and a shooting guard has js, jp and driving has his top skills. A SF is all around and a pf needs to have proportionally higher shooting than a center.

I think.

Yes it definatly changes. I had a shooting guard who became a point guard all of a sudden. And he didn't even got a pop. I was training passing at that time.
Therefor I think the 'best position' is constantly calculated along with the training update, and it takes the real figures, not just the levels we see, in that calculation...

So far 'best position' realy doesn't matter to me. In fact I have no power forwards, and I play some of my centers or a short forward as power forward. I also had my best PG play as SG in a few games, and recently I even have centers playing as SF since my 2 SF are injured. I can't see any negative effect about it.

I think the best position thing is just a little piece of info for starters, so they have a clue how to put together their first line-up. After a while when you know better what you're doing, you might notice that the PF you never play since you have 2 better PFs is actually better than your SF, and play him there.

1 last thing. In the all star game I had a shooting guard elected to play on the SF position, and a SF elected to play as PF. The last one even took a prety big part in pulling the win to our side as well!

I had a player loose a stamina while injured and it turned him from a SG into a PG. But who cares? I know he's a SG, everyone who sees his stats would instantly know he's a SG not a PG and I can play him where I like without penalty.

On the subject of players changing positions... I am leaning towards training inside skills for a while longer and was wondering what people thought of this player... is 6ft 11 too tall for an effective SF? He is my only tall guy that i want to give as much training as possible to but only if its going to be effective. By training Outside Def i imagine he will pop overtime in Inside Def and also I expect a pop soon in Inside shot... im sure somewhere down the line he will get some rebounding training as well meaning he will only be poor in Shot Blocking.... or am I better off listing him and reinvesting in someone shorter and more of a natural Inside player...

I play my 7 footer (2m16) tonight at SF position.
I don't think it is a problem game wise in BB. Anyway I didn't notice it yet.

As for training, you train inside stuff, so it's even better to have a 6'11 on the SF position (if you train your SF along), since bigger guys train faster at inside stuff (especially for rebounding it is best to train the biggest guys since they advance fastest, unless I misunderstood the rules. Also his other inside skills help him, is he has good inside skills already, and you train him inside, he will improve faster)
Reverse is also true: people who train outside stuff and include SF i their training positions should play a rather small SF...

So I'd say stick to the guy.
:)

In the end the diffrence won't be THAT big I think, especially not on short term, but hey, it sure won't hurt!
