don't take this personally, we have all been there -- but div. V teams are considered fodder in cup games. try to win if your opponent is a bot, but otherwise assume that most teams will dispense with you quickly. you are right, i think, to preserve your stars (which i take to mean game shape); work on training; and if you win a round or two of the cup, well done, but count yourself lucky. good div. IV teams and certainly teams in div. III have players on their benches with twice or more the salary of your starters. you don't even want to think about how good div. II teams are, and the nbba are olympian gods. take your lumps -- your time will come.

To piggyback on this thread - are cup matches on neutral ground or home team has the usual advantage ?

are cup games important
do i want to win

i think the winning bonus, is worth like a "extra" Home game for you so when you ain't ambitious in league i would risk something in cup and maybe even give up a league game for it.

an advantage to winning in cup play that i became aware of only after i had lost was the ability to manipulate enthusiasm levels. i kissed off this year's cup because i drew a good team in the first round and did not want to wreck my rotation / training -- but how i would have loved to TIE once a week for, say, a three or four week stretch.

1) They are pretty important, if you think they are. It is a way to get some more money in your wallet, and/or get some more training minutes.

You get the same training minutes in the Cup or a scrimmage.
