Yes. Good game shape does make a player play better in games.

e.g. a 5k player with good gameshape can outplay a 8k player with bad gameshape.

Most teams and probalby all good teams agree that training game shape is a big waste in 99% of the cases.
You should be able to maintain your players ' game shape at 8 or 9 by handling their playing minutes during the weeks. That makes the training of game shap quite useless.

You should rather invest training time in training real skills.

We have both said a lot of things that you are going to regret.

yes, but if someone didn't know that game shape does improve player performance and dropped it to 4-5 by overplaying their best players, a week of game shape training could pull them out of a dangerous situation.

in all other circumstances, game shape is easily managed with minutes played in games.

and some people like to train it during playoff or at the start of the season if they have a big important game in the second week

actually i believe real good teams have to train gameshape, maybe even consistently. training the players is a source of money for sure, but playing in a high division has its own benefits. for teams which do not have quality players, this will not mean anything of course. for someone who has only 5 quality players and trying to play to win all, training game shape is makes perfect sense.

at least for germany it is an exception, before the finals(cup and championship) we do it for the rest we try it with skill training.

I've trained Game Shape twice in 10+ seasons.

A CT? Really?
Any two will do
Any three for me
Any four will score
Any five are live

Couldnt resist :D

I trained it last week - probably to no avail...my first weeks GS was diabolical to say the least despite being happy with my minutes - I had no option this week.

Prior to this I think I´ve trained it one other time.... I guess we need to wait for wily young jbm to give us the definitive answer... failing this our resident Kozlodoev could masquarade and offer an alternative opinion!

well, i did not actually mean old, well-structured, deep teams. if you have so many good players and are able to balance the minutes for your players while being competitive for three games of the week, then for sure you do not need it. think about a team who does not have the resources and capital you have.

how u want to increase the skills of your players to also become an 'old, well-structured, deep team' by training gameshape? this week is lost for skilltraining.
