I wouldn't go for the 1-3-1.
Motion creates more jumpshots, but I'm sure that when the defense is to tough on the outside, the playrs will start making the jumpers from inside the 3pointline.

So it's either 3-2 or man to man, depending on the defense your basic team has.
If the team already is better in OD then ID when playing man to man, I'd play man to man. If your team is better ID, then you might considder playing 3-2.

That's what my experience tells me...

3-2 or 1-3-1, i think the main difference between those tactics is about the players you have. 1-3-1 is much more radical, better when played with right players, way worse when played with wrong players.

to play 1-3-1 efficiently, you need 4 good outside defenders and a nice inside player who can rebound and defend. if you do not have those 4 outside defenders, your defense will not be able to compensate the rebounds you will lose so it makes sense to play 3-2 in this kind of situation.
