GM-Nickleon: Is there a way for us to pick our best D player to play man or this is done automatically by the GE? Thanks!

Ok, I played my first Outside Isolation & Outside Box and One today and still not clear on the effect of these on game rating.

(1) Is Outside Box and One more like 3-2 with more Perm Def boost?
(2) What is the effect of Outside Isolation? I would assume this is an outside focus but how and how much comparing to other outside focus tactics?

Thanks Manon but what I was looking for is more like what we have in the manual for other tactics. For example:

# 3-2 Zone: Increased perimeter defense at the expense of interior defense. Slow pace.
# 1-3-1 Zone: Dramatically increased perimeter defense at the expense of interior defense and rebounding.

What is it for box-and-one? Is it somewhere between a 3-2 and 1-3-1? What about the isolation tactic? Is the effect a variant of rng and motion? A couple more scrimmages will probably reveal these but I just want to leverage the knowledge in the forum here.

I have only played Box and 1 once and it was with some players out of position, but I suspect that it lowers the overall defense on the perimeter and interior quite a bit but gives a huge bonus to defending the opposing team's best outside player.

I have never played isolation but I think that it would be wrong to think about it in terms of being like either motion or run and gun. From what I've been able to gather it probably works by making it making your best player more likely to shoot (i.e. taking lower quality shots) and making your other players take less shots (i.e. taking only high quality shots).

edit:

I can't wait for the new tactics to be usable in PL games so I can see how they work with my actual lineup.

Yes, I figure it would be incorrect mapping these new tactics to the existing tactics but I'm not sure how else to compare. Looking at the box score or the play-by-play, it was not obvious to me who was my isolation player or who was my man2man D player was. Our game rating only has outside vs inside so these tactics must have direct impact to those ratings. I hope the news release is more clear on that.

You realize these may differ depending on what players are on the floor at any given time, right?

Yes, I do relealize that so that makes IMHO the game rating even more important. Otherwise, I really don't know how to compare between tactics for my team. Do you have a suggestion?
