i don't agree with the imaginary friend, with a bit experience you understand the substition pattern of your coach with your players. Even when it varies a bit from game to game, because he won't take breaks to make an substitution and some things like shooting lineup in the last minute will be everytime coach decision.

Lets coach decide, will generally give the better players more playing time, if you play Kobe in a div 4 team as backup he maybe even will start.

Strictly follow depth chart, the coach will ignore the stregth of the player more then when he could decide better backups or player with few stamina will still get substituted earlier.

Coach picks depth chart until fourth: I have low experienced with it, because at least in the past it was sometimes buggy. But in general it should be a mix betwen those two strategies above.

How can you speak for what most of "us" use? Each tactical option has its own advantages/disadvantages.

Just because you don't fully understand it or have had poor experiences by playing it incorrectly, doesn't mean that the whole system is crap.

Each substitution option allows you to assign how much control you want to give the coach. Ranging from 'Strictly Follow Depth Chart' (low control) to "Let coach decide" (a lot of control).

Needless to say, if you have Lebron as a bench player with "Let coach decide", the coach will still give him huge minutes and might even start him because at the end of the day, the Coach wants to try win the game.

I like to use strictly follow depth chart mostly when I need to make sure my minutes don't differ too much from what I'm expecting, like in a scrimmage or cup game when people are close to peaking their minutes for game shape management.

Let Coach Decide gives the coach full power to give anybody minutes (and I think at any position he wants, but don't quote me on that. i'm still a little new myself :P)

Coach picks from depth chart is my favorite as you don't get surprised too much by what happens, but it still gives the coach a little wiggle room to make tactical decisions if need be.

Well yesterday I was suprised. I've choosen 'Coach picks from depth chart' and...
... and my brilliant coach played my SG for whole game. If he will do this again on thrusday cup game my SG game shape will drop... (total of 96 minutes)
I just don't understand why he did not change SG for a single minute...
This setting is still very mysterious to me, so still any sugestions are welcome.

This happens when your starting player is very superior to your backup player. No matter how tired your starter is, he is still the better player and hence stays on the court.

Maybe try starting your backup for the other game and make your starter a backup.

That looks to be very probable. Also, does your SG have high stamina? I know in close games I occasionally have problems with my center playing 40+ minutes because he's better than my backup and has strong stamina. He's dominating when the 4th quarter rolls around, but it obviously loses him a start in the next game.

Hmmm his stamina is highest in team but it is still only 'proficient'.
Ok I'll try to put him on bench in next game.

proficient stamina is already the maximum. So yeah, that explains why he plays for 48 minutes.

i believe you could buy another backup for less then 10k, which is much better then your current one which would be a start.

I could swear prominent ST was the maximum, just that it doesn't really stay there for long enough to matter.
