i think it better to run without neutral focus into the right defence, then a specialised focus but most people play man to man which means most people play the "best defence" against this tactic.
I normally use neutral focus on offense when i am pretty sure that i win, and don't want to give him the oppurtunity to catch up choosing the right defence.

Plus, with base offense you do not exploit your opponent's weaknesses. If your opponent has poor outside defense, you will want to play Motion or RnG, if he has poor inside defense, you'll play LI or LP. If you play BO, you will never fully take advantage...

Because it is called Base Offense. If they called it the Triangle, nobody would really know the difference and it would be wildly popular.

Bingo.

Yeah, but if your opponent is all over the place with his recent tactics (or he plays a balanced attack) it makes it difficult to scout. So with a well rounded team there's no downside to playing base offense. A lot of newer teams think you need to pick specialized tactics to gain an advantage, but that's not the case if you have a balanced team.

BB-Charles has said in the past that, technically, Base offense and M2M tactics are the most efficient. Every other tactic is trying to make up for a deficiency in your team (for example, your big men are weak so you need to play outside tactics to gain an advantage, etc)

It can also be used to take advantage of a strength in your team. If you have a PF and a C with prominent JS and Respectable JR, RnG or Princeton could cause real problems for an opponent

i think base offense could exploits opponents weaknesses in a different way, lets say the opponent have an weak SG and C(at least defensively) you could exploit both missmatched with neutral focus.

Thanks for the responses everyone...I have been using it in some of my games and think I will use it again. I just wondered why not too many people seem to use it. It seems best to be able to mix up your offensive (and defensive) schemes to suit the opponent but I think I will include BO as one of the options that I use.

If your opponent has poor outside defence, BO will exploit it aswell. Neutral focus doesn't mean that your team will alternate inside and outside play, your players will go everytime for the easier baskets to their best knowledge.

but if you know a weakness in the outside defence, and you want to exploit it - you get much better results playing an outside tactic then a base one

the power of BO is that it has no preference focus or pace
and the team doesn't suffer from the disadvantage of a focus offense

No doubt, BO doesn't have the power of other offense, but its power lies in its balance,by absorbing the power of oppoent defense and counter it.

here is a game of mine, at 1st glace u see the 40% FG and thought the DEF did his work.

but i will say he can't stop my BO because I own the pace of the game.
