Blocked shot: deflection of a shot by touching part of the ball on its way to the basket.
Blocked shot: The successful deflection of a shot by touching part of the ball on its way to the basket, thereby preventing a field goal.
Blocked shot: A shot that is deflected from its course toward the basket by a defensive player before it has reached its highest point.
Blocked Shot: A shot prevented from reaching the basket by a defender deflecting its path.
Blocked shot: The deflection of a shot by rejecting the ball on its way to the basket in order to prevent from a field goal.
You have to change the arc of the shot by touching the ball for it to count as a block. The shot can not go in though for it to not count as a shot. Nobody has ever stated that it can not hit the rim. Can it hit the backboard?:) Every time the ball hits the rim, shot clock get's reset. There is also no rule in place that there can't be a shot clock reset after a block shot.
Basically the only rule is. Blocked shot can not be a field goal. Shooting foul is a similar rule. You can not have a missed shot on shooting foul. You only get basket or no fg attempt.
I remember someone claiming there can't be rebounds after block:
A rebound is credited to an individual player or a team each time a FGA (FTA aswell, depending on amount of FT-s given or foul type involved). Only exceptions, foul called, offencive interference. No exception for shot being blocked. When the ball bounces out of bounds a team rebound is awarded.
We can argue about how often the ball hit's the rim after a blocked shot in RL, but I've seen it happen from time to time (usually under the basket in a lot of traffic with few blocks in a row after offencive rebounds). I'm also pretty sure that NBA awards a block to the defencive player when they get a hand on the ball when it is shot. But it can't be a made FG.

But I think we can agree that it doesn't happen every single time. In fact, it seems fairly uncommon.

Situations where clock keeps running were....blocked shots and deflected passes. In otherwords no reset.
You are talking about block shots that do not hit the rim. Deflected pass does not reset the clock.
Most people know taht touching teh ball doesn7t make it a block.
Do you watch NBA basketball? I've seen a plenty of plays where the defender or help defender does enough to graze the ball and change it's trajectory slightly. Pall still hits the rim. Shot clock is reset. Offencive rebound. Block is awarded in stats.

You challenge me? LOL. It would be your challenge to show me that when someone touches the ball after shot and it hits the rim that it does not count as a block or the shot clock does not get reset. If you want a change to be made then you should offer proof that it actually is the other way around.
As I wrote before the rules say. Trajectory of ball is changed by the defender (within the rules of the game) after a shot is attempted, that's a block (unless the shot is made). If shot is attempted and it hits the rim the shot clock is reset. Simple.
I am 99% certain that you DO NOT get a blocked shot simply for getting a finger on teh ball, you actually have to effect its trajectory.
If you get a finger on the ball you always change the trajectory.
If you watch the NBA then they are pretty generous at giving stats. There are a lot of passes that would not be recorded as passes in europe. I'm sure that I could find a block like this tonight, but I just cba. Because you do not own League Pass and can not check the game I find it in. All I would need to do is check the stats of the game and watch all those blocks happen in a live game. I will take a mental note though, so I can check for those moments during next season (if there is one coming at all) and write down the exact time.

In U19 WC Jonas Valanciunas had touched like 13 or 14 shots and a lot of them were when he changed the trajectory slightly. But he had like 5 or 6 blocks.

I only saw second half of the final. Did not see other games. But then again, NBA rules were not used for that turnament (which BB is based on) + you are a lithuanian, thus your judgement while cheering for your countrymen, could of been a bit off. If he changed the trajectory slightly then what did the ball do? Touch the rim?, go out of bounds? or get shot as an airball?
