Thanks for the interesting Buzzerbeater history lesson.

I'm still curious as to why it is used in the All Star Game, but nowhere else.

i believe the BB designed the parameters for the ASG with the first engine they had, and when they overhaul the engine the ASG wasn't important enough to justify the work again that it fit to the current engine.
