In which forums would they call me crazy for discussing a skill on BB? People may have strong opinions, but would they really consider someone crazy for simply discussing the game of BB?

Whenever I have someone come to me with a big man trainee, I always suggest not training shot blocking. Shot blocking may not be completely useless, but the time it takes away from training other skills and its cost towards salary are just not worth it to me.

A Big Man with Shotblocking below 7 is pretty weak. I prefer a SB around 8 - 10.

Yes, but with ID training SB will rise to an acceptable level anyways.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but what if shotblocking really was worth it? Suppose my 20 year old big man trainee (19250926) got another pop in IS, making his three primaries a triple 14. If this were so, his salary is estimated around 71k.

If he had the same skills but instead of having triple 14 had quadruple 12's in IS, ID, Reb, and SB, his salary would be estimated around 44k.

Economically speaking this is a huge difference. That's around an extra 30k you could be saving a week! So if shotblocking really is more important than most think, and would actually be trained, then well, that would pretty much change everything about the game. You would no longer see those 300-400k monsters that get put up on the TL everyday. Instead the market would be filled with lower salary players that perform at a much higher level.

Speaking about Buzzerbeater currently if you were to creat that player with quadruple 12's in IS,ID,REB and SB that player would come up against players like yours who have triple 14's in their primaries. The player with triple 14's would outrebound and stop quad 12 player from scoring too much. Maybe he would not score as much, but he would win that matchup. In todays Buzzerbeater training SB is a waste when you can train ID and get pops in SB to lets say 7-8 in which case he would still be effective.

Having a team with "no" shotblocking means you´re having a team seriously in troubles against penetration offense.

At least the Center, more likely the Center and the PF should have a more-than-solid amount of SB to help the TEAM. I guess the 4 x 12 Player would be a great team player, but no one to focus your offense on. Still, he´s an extremely useful guy off the bench or complementary to outside shooting offenses.

And you really don´t reach SB 10 or 12 without "wasting" a week or two a season on that silly skill, but OTOH, big men get too expensive quick anyways, so those can waste plenty weeks if they have proper size. Big Men over 80 - 120k rarely perform up to their cost (unless at top level).

Im not suggesting that a team would have "no" shotblocking. If you are training properly(especially with cross training now) the training that shot blocking would get from ID should be enough to get that player to a good enough level of shotblocking. Unless that player is starting at 1-3 shotblocking. In that case I would probably train SB after I have pumped my primaries and secondaries, but honestly in my mind even 7 shotblocking is sufficient for a big man to have.

Great point. Many say SB would be the key to stop Look Inside which is a very usual offense for many teams, especially in the BBB. Of course lots of ID is needed with it, but those two skills might even be equally important when it comes to shutting LI down.
I personally believe in SB, because it find it hard to think that BBs would have created a skill that is significantly less important than others. Not saying it should be the highest skill of a C/PF, but it should not be far behind. And for a defensive center, perhaps ID level = SB level (?)
Unfortunately I dont have any propriate proof for my arguments, so it'll just have to stay as my opinion.

SB is definitely trickiest of all skills. I have not tested it to get super bonus, but hey! i have to leave some challenges. In basketball, shot blocking, is desperate attempt to fix your bad defence. SB=Attractive shit :D
