Wouldn't the training slow down because of the elastic effect?

i was training signle pozition OD and PA, and yes you can get 12 pops per seazon. i got 15 with 19 year old 6.0 height lvl 4 coach. It isnt the most perfect idea, since in the final rezult you lose like 2-3skill pops per 4 seazons due to elastic effect. But money and wins-wise its really good. if player can defend you can win league with that. Atm im in league 4 and havent trained 2 seazons jump shot:D not planning to train this year. getting 15-16 OD and 15 Pa this year and 8-9 IS. Those kind of players can run LI very efficient and they doesnt cost toomuch salary. Btw i got 10-11 driving and handling without training, so it isnt so bad, and on the plans ill maybe train it if my players wont be capped after JS training.

This is a guy that I bought when he was 18 and trained him up - his starting point was similar to yours. He also is of allstar potential and I was able to train him up to this level midway through his 4th training year.
He still serves me well.

1. i like to start with the defensiv skill with my trainee to, i maybe would start varying the training when he reach 10(prioritizing his biggest weaknesses). i am not a big fan of pure Pointguards, but i mostly play with two Comboguards or PG at my club. HI would train handling with 1 on 1, with could be a backup training when the minutes for 1 position training don't fit.

2. i think you won't make it. 12 pops are possible, but there are some slower trainings involved.

3. i am pretty sure about it, my third guard is also just an allstar and play well even on highest level -> (3165648)

I'd train his HA first (either with one position HA or 1 on 1) and then go to his OD and PA to counter elastic effect.

But you probably won't be able to get OD and PA to desired levels in this season.

1. I think it's great, but then I love defense. Train shooting at some point, but you can do that when he's 19 or 20.

2. Very, very doubtful. Let me share my own trainee, Dimas Conanan (for the record, I have had a level 5 trainer for him the whole time). DC started out with 7/7/7/6/5/3. I trained passing up 2 pops, then OD for the rest of the season and got it to 12. That's all I did (I got some cross-training HA/DR pops, but still on your goal I would have been short 3 passing pops). Even doing single-position passing and OD, there's no way you get 5 pops in each of those skills in only one season in my experience. Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong which is very possible.

3. For the next few seasons and at your level, definitely. He can be a very good player even into D.III for certain. And if you get to a level where you need higher potential, you can sell him to a lower level team for a decent profit. I'd definitely hang on to him and train him.

I think he should change training every 1-2 weeks in order to avoid negative influence of the elastic effect. Anyway, most guard skills have cross training between each other.

I couldn't agree more, and you're right about the cross-training, but OD's cross-training pops are mostly in HA/DR, not PA, and in any case having trained both OD and passing for extended periods I can tell you that generally you're looking at about once every two weeks per pop. That two-week estimate seems consistent with just about every training diary I've read/heard of for an 18yo prospect. So no matter how you slice it, there's no way you get 5 OD pops + 5 passing pops = 10 total pops ≈ 20 weeks. Even if you get lucky and shave 5 weeks off that estimate, which is a quarter of the projected time, you still can't do it in a season. So that's why I said it's very very unlikely. The only time someone would train that fast is if you had a guy with like 20JR/20 passing (no such player exists, but let's just pretend for the sake of argument), in which case the elastic effect would bring it up super-quick, but for an 18yo the elastic effect can't possibly work strongly enough to shave a quarter of the time off that once every other week rate for 10 pops. Do you get what I'm saying?

I always feel I'm talking really repetitively in my posts, trying to articulate what I know in my head. So I apologize if I come across as incoherent or condescending; neither is intentional.
