OK, but as a newcomer to this game I find it rather difficult to realize if a transfer amount is too high or too low.....

the best advice for a newcomer is stay off the transfer list unless your eyeing a low price trainee.

You cannot compare the price, the market is still unstable and the skills are more than ht, you can have a price idea checking this guide: http://bbguida.netsons.org/ or you can see on the market which are the players that have a good vote or rebounds or assist ecc... depending from what you're searching.
One suggestion, try to resist one or two matches before to buy or sell players ;)

price guide??
hows the old day trading going Ned.... you hooked yet? i wish i could recall some of the older posts from you....
to the OP. I would be sceptical to take on board any advice from a third party website...
i would recommend investing time reading through the archives of the help forum and the country folders of the languages you read - this way you gain multiple opinions from many users (old and new)
also as most formulas for positions and skills needed and weightings are still mainly speculation and guess work, learn the basics, decide on a style for the team you want to build and use your instinct to help achieve this.
as for the trainer recommend at lvl 5 !!
1) get 3 trainees 18-19 and train intensively with a lvl 9/10 coach (dont worry about a skill drop lvl 9 is far superior to lvl 5)
#why invest in a nice house and only half fill with furniture?
2) train and sell to finance a training regime for 5-6 trainees...
If you use the early money wisely on coach and trainees and resist to go buy other players that are only marginally better (even though they may look much better believe me they aint) you will afford this easily. If you train correctly then cash in you can then take your pick of the market to improve the areas that you need to.
In fact I feel so strongly about this - this should be stickied - all other opinions are invalid....this is the only logical start for a new team.
Oh sorry thats my opinion only!

Those 18-19 year olds cost more than the 25 year olds . . .
. . . or you just talking about any ol' 18-19 year old players?

thats why i said go for 3...
i would hope a starting team has 1 stand out player under 20 then buy someone similar to him on the TL and then give them both 48mins... chances are they will get 50-55 so you then have the chance to get another guy (maybe a bit older as they wont get optimum training) who can mop up the remaining 30-40mins in the 3rd slot.
this would mean your training regime should be geared towards PG (training passing or OD) or C (training IS / ID)

I told you, if something will not change or I'll have to start to make trading or I'll leave the game; for the moment I've choosen the first option but it's nothing compare the real traders. I still hope something will change cause I've no time and I don't want to make serious trading.
A suggestion for our dude, check always the previous transfers of the player, there are a lot of people that is waiting to be rich thanks to your offer!!!!!! ;)

u can also train SG with outside shooting and i'm telling u that a strong JS and strong JR will give at least 200 000$ that is if he doesn't have any other skills
Good things come to those, who have patience
