I thought after a-all-out-steal, 1 on 0 or 2 on 1 meant a 4 second fastbreak. Like in the NBA let's take for example, the OKC Spurs game 3 I think. Russel Westbrook stole a ball and like, withen 5 seconds, dunked it. But EBW is right. I don't see too many fastbreaks. I say a fast-break is withen 5 seconds. Don't see it at all. Unless you count last quarter attempts.

Yeah... this makes sense.

Player A steals the pass from Player X
That makes me think he read the passing lane, jumped it, grabbed the ball, and sprinted down fora wide open dunk/lay-up

Now, if steals were split into off pass, off dribble, from a big guy with bad handling, froma guy driving and turning over, etc.

but now it seems like a lot of coding.

But It does make sense what tough said.

In BB FORMAT

Serge Ibaka stole the stole
New format I suggest2-1 FASTBREAK!
Serge Ibaka makes a nice pass to Kevin Durant. Durant stractches out for the dunk.
Scored

Withen 5 seconds I think. That's what I call a fastbreak.

Like this
_________stole the ball
It's a 2-1 or 1-0 fastbreak!
___________alley-opps it to ____________. ___________ goes up strong for a powerful one-handed dunk.

OR
_________ goes for a fast-break layup/fast-break dunk
scored

Now I say 1 handed dunk cause some guys like to show off. And it makes some sense.

Then you could see the personal fouls, shooting fouls, and even "clear path" fouls.

Hey I just eeN a highlight from OKC wining and it took 3.79 seconds to run from the 3 pt line in OKC to dunk it. True story, look on ESPN. So really a FASTBREAK is less than 5 seconds, give or take cause of speed.

In my opinion, fast breaks do happen, but the game engine isnt designed to allow it to happen inside of 5 seconds.
I think the only types of shots that happen inside of 5 seconds are half court prayers, tip ins, or buzzerbeaters.
eg: If you get the ball with 5 seconds left on the game clock, your team will 9/10, shoot it on the buzzer.

so its more about what constitutes a fast break - steal then shot? What if i steal the ball and take a shot 8 seconds later? Thats not a fast break in my opinion, but its probably what the game engine determines to be a 'fast break'.

But yes, i agree, there should be a few more opportunities in the game, definately following a steal, which result in quick bucket.

And as a side note, lack of fast breaks is one of the reasons why the guards have such low FG%. They tend to steal the ball more in real life.
If you take two fast break points a game(assuming the player makes the layup!), and you're only shooting 10 shots a game(including fast break shots), suddenly your shooting percentage goes up 20% for that game.

true! Interesting!

1 second, and a few that were 4 seconds, and a few that were 6 seconds.

All after steals.

well spotted

What I mean it ussually takes for an average NBA player to make it from 75+ feet to the hoop in less than 5 seconds....that's a true fast-break, right? If we knew where the steals were, that'd be different. But I'd like to see more fast-breaks or at least a few more fastbreak attempts. Makes the game more exciting. Usual steals are like this...........

Player A steals the ball.

15 seconds+ later...........

Player B takes a jump shot from the elbow, guarded closly by player E.........

shot missed

But what if it was a F-B?
It would've been two easy points right? When I play basketball (and everyone else) they usually when they make a wide-open steal, go straight to the basket and run hard, right????

yer in some cases, albiet Manon has proved that in his game, there were at least a handful of occassions where the steal was followed by a score 1, 4 and 6 seconds after the steal.

And his steals were 10+ seconds into the oppositions play, so they will be at least past the halfcout line.

So yer. fast breaks do happen.

But still, not enough really.
