Don't be bored think of this as a wonderful opportunity. Cut your roster to the salary floor. Build your arena. Train your PGs in inside skills. Crunch time your cup opponents and cause some upsets. Spend $20,000 a week on scouting and despite having the best record in the league still have a 2/3 chance of getting the best player in the draft and a 1/3 chance of getting the second best as well.
I completely agree with everything except for scouting. By saving up without scouting, he could easily buy an 18yr old at the beginning of next season, possibly better than he could get with scouting. Or, train a current trainee into next season, and use the money profit to buy some more suitable players for D4. Also, the biggest thing, IMPROVE YOUR ARENA. This is what makes d4 teams d3 teams, and etc.
Possibly better, possibly much worse. In a bot heavy league, I'd definitely consider the scouting to be worth it - both because of the potential merchandise benefits of a drafted player vs. purchased one, and the possibility of selling the pick for big money if it's one of the really nice ones.
