I was trying to collect a bunch of interesting threads from the past that have since been forgotten about and stick them in a federation.

Trying to privatize public information, eh? :-) Can't you just make links to the posts in a federation thread?

I have no problem whatsoever in gathering info. Just make sure everyone else can do the same. It was never the idea but the execution that was critizied.
