Congrats on starting out with some trainees. The first guy is pretty good but the second guy isn't really worth training unless you can't find anyone better.

Level 6 trainer is definitely not worth it, the difference between level 6 and level 4 is about 8% speed but the costs are enourmous (~500k difference over a season). So you would be paying more than these players are worth just so training is 8% faster. I actually recommend a trainer level 3 or below (1 or 2 probably best).

As far as what to train, I would do passing and IS. I wouldn't go crazy on the IS/ID because these players are already behind in main skills and you need main skills to make the ID/IS worth it. I think getting IS up to 9 on the MVP is as far as I would go for now. Other than that I would work on training passing for like ~4 pops and then moving to OD. Really the order isn't that important, although if you want to focus on the long term and maximize the elastic effect doing 1v1 first is probably best.

Anyway I started with a new team, got this 18y player with MVP potential. Figured I would invest everything into improving the arena and training this guy for couple of seasons.

Just want to add that this is a good goal but building a salary efficient roster takes time and is arguably more important than either of these things.

I'll start by suggesting that a lvl 6 trainer is worthless for this guy. After level 4, the value per dollar spent weekly greatly declines. There is a bit of a debate as to whether or not a lvl2 thru lvl4 trainer is the most worth it, but it mostly depends on how fast you want this guy to get close to his potential.

Additionally, i'll point out that while salary efficiency and other things are quite important, no one area gets it's potential realized if you cant manage game shape. So i would learn to keep guys to within a 48-72 minute per week gameplan.

As to what you should do. The 2nd guy is less than what you can find on the transfer list for under 20-25k in cost. So if you want a 2nd guy to go with this trainee, best to go out and take care of that and junk the other one (TL him). I would make a decision now as to whether or not you want this guy as a PG, or as a SG, or perhaps as a SG/SF hybrid type player. I think the best choice personally right now is the 2nd option (SG), which means ID will get trained some.

IF you want my personal opinion:

Train ID until 5. (Inside Defense @ C)
Train PA until 5. (Passing @ PG)
Train DR until 5. (OnevOne)

This gets him to at least a level where he does not necessarily hurt your team as much in the games he plays.

Train ID until 8 (Inside Defense @ C).
Train IS until 9 (Inside Scoring @ C).

This will get all of his inside skills out of the way earlier.

Train OD until 10 (Pressure @ PG)
Train DR until 10 (OnevOne)
Train Passing until 10

From here on, you can choose to bump up JS to whichever level you feel is necessary, you'll want to put more into other areas (OD), it's really up to you at that point.

This is not going to make him train the fastest or most efficient, but it will help you improve your team performance, it will make him more well rounded and salary efficient, and will get you to the point where you have a good understanding of what you need to have in your division against your competition.

You could make a case for OnevOne. The unfortunate thing here is that it really isn't the IS that is the item he's going to have to knock over. Perhaps if you were interested in JS/DR/IS all going up (which he should be) it'd make some sense to go that direction and essentially turn it into a 12 week party with ID. But i feel as if that ID grind is going to make the difference on this player.

I think he can make this player not only good for his team but for his country. By the time this player is 24-25, the current stars will be in their 30's, and close to the downward turn. I haven't crunched this guys numbers out, but as an MVP cap wise he should have no concerns getting to a level in which the NT side would benefit.

Just for reference, a person trying to create a NT or U21 level player will go for a level 4 or 5 trainer. So I agree that lvl 3-4 would suffice for where you're at now.

And I'll just second that it's probably worth replacing the second trainee you mentioned, due to his height and low starting skills. You can find better prospects for cheap right now on the TL. I suggest you find one.

Beyond that, I created a Training Simulator (229484.1) with data from the BB-Training Project (203921.1) which may be helpful for you in experimenting with what to train. And the Training project will help you see how much you get out of each training.
