...throws them into some arbitrary programmed competition and tells whom is the best person?

It's called Excel.

I have this "Excel" what are the steps I should/must follow for this?

I know it seems a bit silly in a text based game but I think a Slam Dunk competition would be good.

First let me say all of these Rookie games, Slam Dunk competitions etc are pipe dreams, they will never be done.

But if you wanted to have a slam dunk competition all you need to do is hire someone in India at $5 an hour to write 500 lines of dunk descriptions, would probably take a day, total cost $40.

You need about 100 extra introduction and conclusion lines. Anyone that has played NBA Live a lot knows the deal.

Then a super simple mechanism that would take less than a hour of programming. Select the players.

My opionion it should be based on a combination of driving (shows athleticism), shot blocking (shows reach) and rebounding (shows leaping ability).

Then add in game shape and a random factor. Generate the lines and scores for each dunk and there is the competition.

I'll say it before and I'll say it again.

The best thing that can be done for the all-star break right now, is to use the current match engine in the ASG and have the players actually play defence. This will at least give the game a little bit of meaning instead of the meaningless score-fest it is right now. Giving everyone who plays in the game a small experience boost might also help.

You mean don't have it just like the current NBA All-Star Game?

If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.

what about cash prizes for best ASG scorer, rebounder, triple-double achievements...50k for each category. It's not a lot, but it makes ASG a bit more meaningful. The prize could vary depending on league (D.I 80k, D.II 60k etc.). The idea is not to give away tons of money which can give too much advantage to the recipient, but to spice up things (that's why the prizes should be low).

I would not support anything more than a merchandise boost for teams that have players in the Allstar game. If players do well it might makes sense to have the boost a little larger.

I only support something like this if the normal game engine is used.

I think having an allstar game at the end of the season for each division might be cool. It would be cool to see if my best players are able to compare to the best players in the rest of the division.

I'm all in for the tiny merchandise boost. Would spice it up a bit, and is realistic.
