I could see this happen. But then if the player stays for like 8 seasons in the same team.

And if his real country did not call him before that.

Point is to allow small teams to have better players, right ? Not use money to steal other nations (smaller or bigger) players ?

Not really a fan, but indeed, if it was ever a thing, home nation should be protected.

Maybe something like a maximum potential cap of superstar (a player with more skill than that will possibly think he can be good enough to represent his home country someday and not settle for a foreign country)? That would allow small nations to get more viable candidates, especially at the U21 level, without enabling stealing players who are the very top echelon of prospects from other countries.

I really enjoy this idea, I think it could really save the micronations from that monotony and make them a little more competitive ;)

i think 3 full seasons in a foreign country is enough?
say owner A bought a foreign trainee from nation B and train him from 18 - 21 years old.
the owner can chose for the trainee to represent nation B or his own country A.

after all its the owner that's bear all the training expenses.

well, training begins @ 18.
after 21, can any player still make the NT with training?
if a player can only change nationality after 8 seasons then what goes for the training in the first 3 seasons? cant even represent the U-21?
