I wouldn't train him as SF, for that I feel his OD is indeed to low. Might be personal though, since I like my SF's with high OD to run 3-2 zone. You could train his as PF since his other secondaries are decent, and either have him switch on defense with the Center (assuming he has better OD) or just train it to a level where it's not that big of a hole.

He more of pf than a small forward with his guard skills... I think Od never hurt to 5-6 on him which is possible with him maybe even higher. Then you'll have 2 slot player who can play about 4 tactics as sf or pf in a honest fashion with out being a liability.
