I'd think that almost any player could reach "respectable". Though it is possible that the soft cap is lower. In HT the "soft caps" for fan club size are quite a bit lower than what you can achieve. It seems that it would be frustrating to know that a player who is "mediocre" would have to struggle to gain two levels of improvement.

In HT, the soft cap reduces the maximum increase per update by one, for every 100 fans. So you might have an X% decrease in the rate of improvement for each additional level. Let's say that it is 90% for each additional level. You might set the soft "cap" at a fairly low level, and initially you will just see slowing. A player "could" reach much higher levels, except he will also see loss of training speed due to age and the amount of time. If a "6th man" takes until 30, what an "All Star" can reach by 25, very few "6th men" will get to the that level.

it is also not very clear that this soft cap works on individual skills, or the player overall...

I think most are thinking (including myself) that it works for the individual skills (e.g. each skill could become prolific) but it might very well be that a factor is calculated for each position, and once the player gets it by combined skills, he might reach his cap... There is no clearness about this in the rules, and don't know if BB means to keep it hidden for the players.

What I do know is that if the BBs do keep it hidden how it works, and where the caps are that players who will try to find out and work on gathering the info will be in a serious disadvantage. There will be people who will take the easy way, and get full training all the time while waiting for results to show on the forums, and then take advantage of the info they get. this happens with every aspect ofcourse, but mostly it doesn't hurt teams to much to invest in order to gain info. With such an important thing as training players and finding out where they stop training much I feel this is a very important investment which costs a team a lot and therefor it is not the right way the game should go. So personally I would like the BBs to give some more info about the topic.

I doubt it, I think that's just standard coloring.
