Actually a great training facility
I don't really find an issue here. Imagine the guy overbiding you to the last cent wasn't the owner of a player - would you still consider this unfair?

And such buybacking is usually not even for NT reasons. For that you overpay just enough to not grab other buyers attention, but not too much to get fined.

It's weird, but not illegal as I don't see anyone getting an advantage. At best case owner is losing a lot, as he won't be able to sell this gut for a while (daytrading rule).

Pre-arranged trades have been going on forever and are not that hard to do. In fact, Sharman globetrotters pulled off a three team trade in season 10, the year he won the B3. How do I know this, I was part of his federation. Sharman wanted a Japanese NT player but the guy who had him wanted a NT SG from his country on another team. That other team wanted a SF from Sharman. . They all put the players on the TL for big sums of money and pulled it off. I also don't think it is (was) against the rules because there were BBs and GMs who were members of the BIG BOY BANTAR federation.

I don't think they were way over but they were all one bid and done. But at that time, most of the teams who could afford such players were in that federation.
