Cubs upset Germany, 70-60
Team Pilipinas got an 'ugly win' against Germany last November 28 at the Carmeltown Arena, somewhere in the Philippines. "A win is a win... I will take it", coach Morwood said after the match.
Dual citizen Huang Defeng led Team Pilipinas with an impressive double-double, finishing the game with 21 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block - on 67% efficiency from the field. Germany was led by Ingobert Röber, who finished the game with an equally efficient line of 24 points (53% field goal efficiency) Sadly, the rest of the players were not as efficient. Both squads shot a combined 28.6% clip from the field (48 / 169), and 79.8% from the free throw line (28 / 39).
The 'Tank for Victor' may have gotten to both the Philippines and Germany last Monday, as both squads played something similar to a Junior Varsity basketball match on a Saturday morning. Neither country realize Victor Wembanyama is French, and may suit up for the French U21 squad.
The Cubs will face winless Croatia later (Tuesday, 1am), to get their second win in as many losses.
