We’ve reached the finals! But here’s what went down on Saturday.
Arsenal 98 are heading to their 7th EBBL finals after a 108-93 victory over Optic Fibres. They were led by perimeter trio: Marinicevas, Gordic and Bruand as they combined for 85 points! Baro once again appeared to be unstoppable as he scored 47 points, making his playoff average 45ppg!
Mortal Wombats quest for a 3-peat came to an abrupt end with a shock 106-78 beating by Team Nook. While the result itself isn’t a big shock, the 28 point difference was. MVP Glavonjic joint top scored for Nook with 26 points and was matched by Kanjilal. Team Nook take their league winning steak to 24 games!
Team Nook will be looking for revenge on Arsenal 98 after they beat them in the season 59 finals 2-0. They will go in with confidence after their performances this season, but Bergkamp’s men will have their eyes on a 4th EBBL title.
T20 Cricketers cemented their EBBL status for next season by completing an easy 2-0 sweep over BC Zalgiris. Dovalle top scored with 38 points, as all 6 players scored double figures for T20.
Reds BC also booked their spot in the EBBL next season with a convincing 104-77 victory over Camden Kings. Fullerton scored an efficient 22 points on only 10 shots to lead the way.
Bournemouth Drunkers were able to force a game 3 with a 128-112 win over CWA Fury, thanks in part to a change in tactics which forced an incorrect guess for CWA. Zdelar had a big game for Drunkers with 37 points including 7 3-pointers. Carneiro was unconscious with 54 points off the bench, but injuries to Malta and Peto proved too much to overcome. Injuries to them both may for Drunkers confident in making a comeback, but still need to travel for a game 3 on the road.
3 out of 4 division 2 finals will see both number 1 seeds facing off, with the exception being in division II.4 which saw BC Black Dragons beat Gophers to reach the finals. This means that Gophers will only promote if Milf Hunters and Porzigod win their respective finals.
