A open letter to the spanish BB-managers who follow their NT intensively
General
Since the match between our two countries I have been accused by your coach recasco several times that my country played ‘unfair’, and that we were against Spain. Therefore it seemed to me that this was probably the general consensus in the Spanish NT-community. Therefore I’d like to write this open letter, to explain my thoughts as a NT Coach and defend myself to these accusations.
First of all a NT Coach is appointed by voters in his or her country, and gets the job to do as well in this job as is possible, I’m sure recasco tries as hard as he can, just like Marot did. I did and will do that as well. This means that a NT-Coach doesn’t has as a goal to diminish chances of another NT , but has as a goal to do as well as possible.
The reasoning behind my decisions
The country I’m from has about 400 managers, we qualified for the second group phase of the European Championship and were able to beat Latvija, and were left with 4 strong teams to face, to be correct the numbers 1 (Espana), 3 (France) and 4 (Deutschland) of Europe and the home country Schweiz. Arrived at that point I thought that my country ‘s only chance to get another win was to play at CT against one of those teams, and the goal of one win in this group was reached. At that point I thought about playing a CT against Germany, but realized our chances would still be very slim. After all 2 years ago, only one opponent played a TIE against us. But suddenly I found a BB-Mail in my mailbox from recasco, proposing a mutual TIE. At first I thought this was extremely weird, why would the ‘almighty’ Spain propose a TIE to such a small country? According to me the only reason could be that he saw a chance for my country, it probably meant that your teamspirit wasn’t that good as I expected. After doing a quick scan I found out that the team spirit of Spain was the lowest of all following opponents. Also the form of the spanish inside players wasn’t perfect. I decided to accept the proposal from recasco, just because I was convinced that with my country had a small chance of winning another game, if I could find the right tactics combined with a CT. The chance would at least be better than at the other games, because my countries star PG was at a team which owner didn’t login anymore and the probability of having him in a good form was slim. In the end my country proved to be that lucky, because we found the right tactics and were able to profit from the TIE-deal. With this I managed to win one more game for my country than my fellow countryman and I expected. Your NT manager gave me the chance to do where I was appointed for, if this includes breaking a TIE-deal, than so be it. But this has nothing to do with being against Spain, I’m definitely not, I wish everyone the best, except when playing against my country.
Fairness of TIE-deals
Recasco said repeatedly that it was unfair to break a TIE-deal, and even claimed in the BB-mail of today: “I hope you learn that it is more important to be honest than qualify one position more or less.” C’mon all of you should know that a big part of this community thinks TIE deals is some sort of cheating, and that proposing and accepting a TIE deal, means taking risks. The risk of breaking a TIE-deal is the smallest when a TIE serves both teams. The TIE-deal proposed to my country served nothing for my country if I’d kept it, then we would have lost for sure (and of course recasco knows) and would have played a opponent with a higher teamspirit and in better form which probably wouldn’t even play a TIE. Your NT-Coach has taken a risk but he cannot rightfully blame me, it is his responsibility to do as best as he can with your country’s National Team, and his job is not to set ‘honesty’ above one place higher on the list. That is n
