What constitutes a NT player?

a NT player is someone who is in the national team, that's the only way to gain that status.

If they let them go for 1k if they are retired from a team it just causes a cycle of countries creating "farm teams" buying the player for cheap and managing GS until the team goes bankrupt then do it all over again. OR better yet, if it was like it used to be you could buy a player like this and fire him...then he is retired for good.

First, I don't think these players would go for 1k since they would probably get more than one bid. Second, how would this enhance farm teams, when in fact the current system is more in favour of them? Since all countries don't have them, this would only increase inequality among the countries. Some would have their expensive players on their farms, others would have the players retire since no one would buy them for 1M. Third, you couldn't buy and fire a player since when fired, the player goes through transferlist again.

You took my first question too literal. There are many "mega-salary" players that aren't NT players for various reasons. PLUS when national teams are in periods in which their enthusiasm doesn't matter and resets soon, they could just put whoever they wanted on the team so they would go on sale for 1k. Most CURRENT NT players will not be on these teams because they won't be in good game shape...usually.

Also, before they changed the system, fired players were retired, not put up for sale. This rule has only changed fairly recently. That's why I said, "like it used to be", in my post.

Well, these players are just like Latrell Sprewell. They need those $200k salaries to feed their family on a weekly basis...

And instead of taking a paycut, they would choose to retire if their demands are not met.

From Wikipedia:

On October 31, 2004, the Minnesota Timberwolves offered Sprewell a 3-year, $21 million contract extension, substantially less than what his then-current contract paid him. Claiming to feel insulted by the offer, he publicly expressed outrage, declaring, "I have a family to feed ... If Glen Taylor wants to see my family fed, he better cough up some money. Otherwise, you're going to see these kids in one of those Sally Struthers commercials soon.
