Over time I came to draw most of my conclusions based on the info they had at the US NT site. Proud to have contributed with several seasons of training entries too. It was some amazing work they did there... shame it`s not available any more.

Adding my 50 cents - to put it short the difference between lvl 4 and lvl 7 coach, with all other factors been equal and say 55 starting TSP player, is ending up with 136 / 142. Whether those 6 SPs are worth it or not is a matter of circumstances and opinion.

When you are fighting for #1 (no matter club or NT) I think it`s definitely worth it. When trying to promote from div 4 to the top league - probably not... ;)

IIRC, wozzvt's data showed that the difference from lvl 4 to lvl 5 was about 3%. And the level difference was about the same for lvl 5 to lvl 6. But the only level that ever yielded enough data to be certain enough about was lvl 5. He never made pronouncements about the level differences below 4 or above 6. Add that to the explicit non-linear nature of BB levels, and this would lead me to believe that the differences between trainer effectiveness is greater than 3 when you go below 4 and less than 3 for 6-7.

I can't give hard data for this, but it wouldn't surprise me if the difference were something like this:

7=100%
6=99%
5=97%
4=94%
3=90%
2=85%
1=79%

But it would take more technical knowledge than I have to resurrect wozzvt's work and verify that. Besides, most people who make any real effort to train rarely have anything lower than a lvl 4. So I doubt we'll ever have real numbers about the lower levels.

I doubt a lot that spending about 20M for lvl 7 coaches throughout the whole training period is worth it. To make that statement true, you have to reach a 170-skilled #1, I guess

Of course you do, you are a jew! ;)

When it comes to NT money is no thing imo. I regularly buy heavily overpriced Bulgarians just to "save" them because we have very little to work with. Guess what lvl coach I`m training them with. Sure it`s economically inefficient, no doubt about that, but I`ve come to a point where I really want to see my NT improve, no matter the cost.

From the club perspective - you don`t necessarily have to spend 20M.

On one hand, in the last several seasons of training (say when they hit 25) you don`t need that lvl 7 coach any more because the bonus that he`ll give you is less than a skill point till the end of training.

On the other hand if you`re smart and patient enough you will sooner or later get a deal. A while ago I bought my lvl 7, 8k salary coach (yeah, they come up sometimes) for 3,5 million. This coach has cost me a little less than 3,3 million in salary for the 7 seasons that I used him. This makes less than 7 million total cost.

Now assuming the alternative would be a lvl 5 coach that would still cost you at least 2,5 - 3 million for the same period we have a 4 million difference. Divided on 3 players (although for at least half the time you are training 6 if you want to be efficient) that`s an additional 1.33 million in training costs per player. To me it is a fair price for 5-6 additional pops.

*and no, I couldn`t get to 170, the best I had was 153! ;)

A level 7 trainer with 8K salary for 3.5million???? That's the steal of the century! I've never even seen a level 7 with below $20k salary. If that unicorn popped up on the market now, I'm guessing he'd go for 20+ million.

Yup, lucky bastard I'd even pay 5M with all my jewish identity

Anyway, interesting approach. Just to keep a coach for so long, it may be worth it.

5M or even 10M for 3 players definitely worth it. As mentioned before, the early stages are the ones who make a difference. There is no point in holding lvl7 coach at the age of 26-27, I guess. So maybe this is a reason of such prices.
