Of course they train free throws, but good shooters won't need much free throw training as bad shooters.
You think Ray Allen trains free throws a lot? No he's naturally a great shooter and doesn't need to practice free throws too often, as much as a bad shooter.

in buzzerbeater every player is a talented free throw shooter, because you don't need to train it often to get solid averages ;)

And i wouldn't wonder when Allen would made tons of free throws, before he entered the NBA compared to other players.

It'll take me several seasons for my proficient+ jump shooter to be even average free throw shooter, unless I ignore other trainings and train free throw several weeks straight.

and what means average free throw shooting in percent? Thats around 70% off your free throws, and he is still far far away from beeing a top division jump shooter ;) And the difference to FT 12 is really small so that you don't need to train it further.

Actually, I'd be very surprised if Ray Allen didn't train free throws every single day. That's what the great free throw shooters do. And have typically done every day of their life since they were young. They understand that free throw shooting is not the same as jump shooting and that to be good at it you need to be dedicated to practicing it routinely, generally shooting 100+ free throws a day.

That can't quite be replicated with the training one thing a week system of BB, but it doesn't change the fact that to be a good free throw shooter, a person needs to practice shooting free throws.

Yes, I do believe Ray Allen trains free throws a lot. Do you think Jack Nicklaus didn't go to the driving range because he was a naturally gifted golfer? Do you think Albert Pujols doesn't take BP because he is a great hitter? That is honestly one of the dumbest statements I have yet to read on this forum. Not sure if you have ever heard of George Gervin, but he was one of the greatest scorers in NBA history. He used to stay after practice for two hours EVERY day, shooting.

suspension of reality- players train only one skill area per week. Players never train FT. Staff who get a pay raise every week. A professional basketball league in Thailand. Attendance dropping dramatically because of one loss. having a transfer list for basketball players. Thai players having white skin and orange hair. I am sure people could add many more examples.

Oh, and Otis Birdsong and Sherman Douglas. That's two without thinking.
