I'm pretty sure there is at least one good draftee in your draft class, and should you have spent your points wisely you were in the best position to get that guy. But there may be no 18-yo stud with top potential in every league, and therefore no one should expect to get one. Those guys are rare, I think they should be rare, and I'm pretty sure they will stay that way. Otherwise the skill and potential base will just get diluted. The draft continues to be a tool to balance the competition, but it must not be a shortcut to success or wealth (often the same thing). Like others have said, there would be an increased risk of tanking if the draft were completely predictable and greatly profitable for the top picker.
