My 5-ball baseline ranking player number 1 turned out to be a 1-star scrub after I scouted him.

The combine tells you nothing that the interview won't tell you. If you do the combine, you still have to do the interview. There just aren't enough points for both. I'd rather do the group workout, and after that, get as many interviews in as possible.

And there aren't enough points to intereview all the players, either. However, it is possible to do the combine and group workout and then find all the top 18 year old prospects in the draft pool. You can't do that through interviews alone (or if you can, I haven't figured out how yet).

Sorry, RIP has it right here.

I wouldn't want to share the information to my nearest rival so that the top talents end up on his team instead of mine, but if anyone thinks that's an effective tactic, nobody stopts them.
I don't think this changed much in the new system though, you could also share this info in the old system in the two weeks between the edit draft order list, and the draft itself.

Here is my own personal system that I developed if you are spending $40K per week:

-do the scouting combine and group demonstration
-ignore all 19 year olds, focus on the 18 year olds
-interview all 18 year olds with 4 and 5 ball skills
-then start at the top of your list, scout each player starting with the 5 balls and going down (remember, only 18 year olds)
-if you hit a guy with 4 or 5 balls in skill, interview him

Well lets say me and my friend are in the same league. He is at the top of the league and I am near the bottom. I might want to help him out by sharing the list, I know I will still get a better pick than him but at least he has more information now.

Also, the reason it is easier to share information now is because people will use the scouting combine and people will easily be able to compare the age and height with someone else to more easily identify the player. This was harder in the old system because there wasn't anything specific to compare.

Patrick,
would you mind confirming one thing?

The white balls (1 to 5) that you can see for each player before any scouting really and only relate to the skills the player will have, right?

I'm asking because after the group demonstration (or what the English word for the "All 1 and 2 ball players show their real skills" is) it doesn't like like there was ANY correlation between the white balls and the orange balls you see after the first scouting.

Would it be right to say that statistically the "5-white-ballers" are better than the rest?

I think Edju confirmed this already but to avoid any misunderstading, could you please comment on this once more?

We have both said a lot of things that you are going to regret.

A small suggestion - there should be a place on the site where you can simulate a "mock scout" at any time for "new" users - in this case, we are all "new" - and this link should also be part of the new manager checklist that I recall having to go through when I first joined.

Server load issues? Then use a fixed talent pool so there is little to no processing involve. Everyone has 4*14 points to use, and can run through the exercise to get an idea for how to the new system works. It's just for practice - no lasting impact on the game. I imagine most people would use it 2-3x to get familiar and then not visit the link anymore.

But this way, one is able to get feel for how they would like to implement their actual scouting and spending strategy.

Just a suggestion.
