It seems to me it would be as useful as the death penalty when it comes to preventing major crimes - it doesnt work at all...

whoaooo :)))) this is getting really serious now..... i think we should leave aside serious real life issues and would rather stick to buzzerbeater.

i would read the list (not daily though, i do have other matters to attend..:)))
i would for instance in order to see whether the team that i thought was suspicious for cheating has been banned or fined...

life is complicated as it is,so i dont have the luxury of spending my time patroling and police buzzerbeater,other people are willing to do so...

BUT since the game itself is asking for OUR contribution to prevent people from cheating then i only think its fair for the game to give us some feedback on that same help they asked us for...

I think that if people could physically see in these lists that their cheating reports were actually resulting in fines/bans then more people would be inclined to report cheating because they are confident something would be done about it and in this sense it would catch more cheaters.

Whilst you might think that the death penalty doesn't deter major crimes, I think this situation is different. If there was public humiliation for all real life crimes, I think it would deter people, and this would be similar here.

those pillorys work, because they are important because you normally can not attack people who are temporarely banned ;) So you had to know when he attacks again, or you could attack him - i don't see this senario here or temporarly bans who expire.(ok you could register again after a while, BUT you won't see this at the pillory or the "new" user).

And lot of people who get "finned" don't do anything wrong, they just had the bad luck that someone don't wanted to be in a bid war and have no idea about prices or want to spend his money before he quits etc.

Also i don't know why it get more scary when, you see daily 20 names of banned person you don't know, instead of seeing that there are ~120 banned people last week(yes this number is pretty constant)

And if the increase in reports would lead to the same amount of bans/penalites everybody would start ranting about how their complaints are not taken serious.

"public" and internet dont fit together. What would it give to me if I knew user "sweetgurl69" from the US was fined 200k for bad transfers? Or user MOCKBA887 from Russia banned for multiaccounting? I really dont see the benefit from it.

Can someone please summarise the pros and cons of this suggestion.

Leaving personal views and opinions aside, is anyone capable of listing 5 reasons why it should be done and 5 reasons why it shouldnt. Reasons in relation to the benefit of the game for me, you and the other users.

Because if we end up with more pros than cons then its a no-brainer its worth a shot, but if we end up with more problems and negatives then again this is not a good suggestion going forward.

And a couple of comments

1. Its not about making things more scary, in my mind its just a way of making things more transparent and easier for people to follow. As Knecht said, there would be no benefit to him to know that "sweetgurl69" was fined 200k, but if I am the one that reported "sweetgurl69" for illegal transfers, then I have an interest in seeing this comment. And that would encourage me to continue to in the game, without bothering the GM for news (which he is not aloud to give anyway) and wondering whatever happened to my report!!!! So overall there is a benefit for someone.

2. Also I personally would be interested to see more views from GMs and BBs or users that have been in the game for a while, and have more experience in the game, and here their arguments in favor or against the suggestion.

3. And please please, a game is a game, not linked to real life, what we are trying to do is make the game fair, and easier for people to enjoy while getting rid of people that cheat and avoid issues that cause arguments or raise questions in various communities. We can all do without these things and maybe this might be one of the ways forward.

thank you so much for such a lengthy answer...
in some of your cons i would comment that are hypothesis rather than facts. i do respect though your concern about an increase in your voluntary work as a BB, but i thought it wouldnt be such a hard task once you issued the penalty to just add a name in a list (been a GM myself in another online game...normally took me 10sec)

Cheaters will have a better understanding of which crimes lead to which punishments. If cheaters know what they need to do to avoid getting caught it will only make it easier to cheat and may eventually lead to more cheating.

i dont understand this comment. If cheaters get a fine from a GM dont they know or can they no try to do stuff to avoid getting caught?
how this can get easier looking at a list of people being punished??

again i am talking of a very simple list i.e : User name -Team's name-penalty- reason (transfer fees above market/multiple accounts/inappropriate language etc...)
as you see no further details for someone to get wiser on how to cheat in the game

Certain reporters will likely continuously make reports against the same team if they see that they are not being fined or banned (even if they don't deserve to be).

that could as well be happpening even in larger number at the moment cause NONE has any information about whether a team was fined so people keep filling reports...i think if users see a regular update of the list they will understand
a) their report was valid or b) their report wasnt valid

for me
PROS:
1) improve the static communication(in the area of cheating) between the game and the users. At the moment the communication is...write a report...the end

2) will ease the public feeling that some kind of justice exists in the game

3)will comfort users that more cheaters can be discouraged to practice

4) will stop users hussling the GM's about certain teams if they see that finally those teams were punished

5) will increase the number of users who spend time to write a report

6) will improve communication in the forums thus making the game better..this game is not only about setting a starting team...but communicating with users in local forums

well ......when i made my initial suggestion, i was pretty much certain that i would be receiving 100% possitive feedback.
well i should say 90% and was expecting only people who arent playing by the rules to object to such a list...

instead in the past 2 days... i have been reading about witch hunting, extra GM -unpaid- work, nuissance to the users
conspiracy theories, tendency for a general secrecy...

all these for what reason???

i personnaly believe to discourage people from writing reports...(not a personal attack)

hmmm what the dude said is make public the penalties that are given.....
instead everyone is over analysing it saying how hard it it, there are no benefits and then we are all welcomed to continue writing reports=to continue witch hunting...

i ve never written a report, cant be bothered....but i dont really think some people want us to know whats happening with those cheating...
i think the cheaters are far too many..and if all cheaters are banned the game actual users will drop...dramatically....
