(42154529)A very nice game featuring 2-3 and showing it's effectiveness...which isn't good enough against LI. Busby boys' 2-3 defense produced 6 blocks and a lot of missed layups from Nitra's PG and SG, while keeping his team ahead in rebounds. 2-3 also didn't allow for more than 4 offensive rebounds from Nitra while having 14 rebounds itself. By that logic, Nitra's C and PF should have low %FG too, right?
Well, 2-3 certainly stops them more than M2M defense, but Nitra's PG and SG get a boost on passes, consequentially getting better looks to their C and PF, effectively negating 2-3 defense. Result? Even if Nitra's first PG and SG shot 5-25 combined, they also had 16 assists (combined) and the whole team shot a very solid 42-85. How many more proof do BBs need to see 2-3 zone doesn't work? Actually it works, when you have a roster like Chezch NT. But teams are not NT - they can't afford 2.5 mio of salaries.
