You took my first question too literal. There are many "mega-salary" players that aren't NT players for various reasons. PLUS when national teams are in periods in which their enthusiasm doesn't matter and resets soon, they could just put whoever they wanted on the team so they would go on sale for 1k. Most CURRENT NT players will not be on these teams because they won't be in good game shape...usually.

Also, before they changed the system, fired players were retired, not put up for sale. This rule has only changed fairly recently. That's why I said, "like it used to be", in my post.

Well, these players are just like Latrell Sprewell. They need those $200k salaries to feed their family on a weekly basis...

And instead of taking a paycut, they would choose to retire if their demands are not met.

From Wikipedia:

On October 31, 2004, the Minnesota Timberwolves offered Sprewell a 3-year, $21 million contract extension, substantially less than what his then-current contract paid him. Claiming to feel insulted by the offer, he publicly expressed outrage, declaring, "I have a family to feed ... If Glen Taylor wants to see my family fed, he better cough up some money. Otherwise, you're going to see these kids in one of those Sally Struthers commercials soon.

WOW instanT bankrupt. : o.. man im glad i didnt buy him. he sold for 20 mill..

I agree with few points here the players skills do decline and etc. so his price should too . he's not going to be worth that in 2-3 yrs. he will be overvalued becuse someone else will come up younger with better skills or even skill at a younger age.

Lso his play wont be that well, the lower league will be where he be more dominate in last yrs of basketball play. I m just assuming here i dont for sure i dont have a 10 season history..
