I ended up spending WAY too much money on scouting than perhaps I should have (over 400k) and would like nothing more than better info than I have for this draft. Although I feel it is necessary to make sure those who invest dont get completely shafted, I believe what is more important is to avoid people being able to exploit the draft process, primarily by sharing info. It seems this game has taken great (and appropriate) steps to protect the integrity of the draft.

Having said this, I see a great many users chime in on both sides of this argument. When someone posts that scouting is a waste of money several response come back about how they grabbed a quick 600k profit from thier draft or something similar. Conversely, when someone champions a large investment in scouting several people will respond that you can save that money and purchase the exact type of player on the market with it. There seems to be an inverted bell curve on opinions of scouting, with the majority occupying the ends of the argument, and less people in the middle. This indicates to me a certain balance. If everyone thought one way, thats whn I would worry. My first season, and I plan to re-evaluate the draft over several seasons with differing levels of investment before I make up my own mind on this one.

Not saying this is different than how you feel, just continuing the discussion.

How many people enter the WSOP every year? Now, how many people use math to explain why planets rotate around the sun every year? Lastly, how many people have seen 'Jaws' more than 200 times other than myself?

I think the BS (box score) is a fine indicator, but it's the 40k a week and unscouted players thing that kills me. I will post this 8,000 times or until I'm manning a radar tower in Alaska!

I think you are underestimating the "having a fun" factor. And patriotism.

One iimportant thing is that you don't know the quality of the draft pool (in advance).

Are you kidding?

This discussion is alot of fun for me!

And patriotism.

Served 6 years in my Nations Army, with two combat ribbons and a Purple Heart. Is that the kind of patriotism you mean?

No, I meant those as factors influencing decision upon how much information about prospects people wan t to have.

1)Choosing among players you have sopme info of tends to be more fun than choosing playerX over playerY not knowing anything about them. For some people avoiding blind choices is a big facot albeit they may know it won't be effective to invest eve nfurther (depends on many things, division standing and such)

2)Patriotism. Since there are national teams and U21s on BuzzerBeater, some managers like to have trainees from their country. And they like to improve their chances to get a good one via draft (and save such a player from being drafted by inactive soon-to-be-bot teams).

Better? :)

I feel dumb.

Shouldn't be a new feeling for you, eh?
